Not sure if there's one of these started already, but it's still pretty far off, so I thought I'd make one. Have any of you guys taken the TEAS yet? If not, where are you taking it? I didn't see any dates listed for GSU.... Read More

New info for Troop and brazilian nurse:

I went to drop off my acceptance form and the secretary said that there are still plenty of spots left for ACE. The majority of traditional has been sent out though not that it concerns you guys though lol. btw its not a huge thick envelope. Its thick but its in a small normal sized envelope.

Thanks GSUhopeful... but that's not really good news for me... I did not apply for the ACE program.. even though I already have a bachelors.. I thought the pace would be too crazy for me with a baby and decided to apply for the traditional program.. but now.. if I end up going to Mercer, it is a 2 year program (no summer classes) and I think the pace would be similar to GSU with regards to the amount of classes (I think at Mercer it's about 17 credit hours/semester..). Anyway.. sad news for me... but thanks for posting!!

Its not sad because there are still spots left for both! Be positive! My friend also got her letter for traditional and her GPA was a 3.75 with an 82 TEAS. But my other friend who has a 3.9 and 85 hasn't received her letter yet so don't give up hope!!!!!

Thanks so much GSUhopefulstudent!! It does give me some hope... I'm feeling super down.. I was reading the 2011 posts to try to figure out when people received their letters and I think 04/09 was the latest I found.. after that was wait listed letters.. but it gives me hope that your friend got in with a 3.75 and 82 on the TEAS.. my scores are higher on both so.. we'll see.. fingers still crossed..

Question for those of you who are accepted: what are you doing to prepare for fall? Have you thought about reading up on some things, like med terminology, dosing calculations, etc.? Have you started considering looking for comfy nursing shoes? Looked at past syllabi for a list of books? Assuming I get in, I want to do at least some kind of prep over the summer...nothing too intense, just to get a bit of a jump on things. But, I also have to keep in mind that I'll be taking 10 credit hours over the summer.

I'm going to buy my comfy shoes and uniform over the summer I just need to figure out my size so i can go ahead and order it.
I'll probably do some preparation for patho and harmacology over the summer. My parents keep telling me that Pharm is possibly the hardest class they took when they were in school O_o So, I'm going to take their advice.
But I'm going to be taking abnormal psyc and nutrition over the summer, so I'll be spending more time on that and working part-time to earn money

Thanks for that tip, kyuu. Do you have to take pharmacology in the 1st semester? It definitely seems like it would be a tough class. Lots of biochem, cell bio, and physiology involved. I haven't taken biochemistry since the '90s, so I'm really rusty on that! I'll see how soon I can afford to get the textbook for that class...maybe I'll get lucky and find something similar at the local library.

I saw another post on the site that suggested students read up/practice doing basic assessments prior to starting school. That would include temps, BP, pulse, respiration, etc. That could actually be fun; we could use our families/friends as test subjects. I'm sure my kids would love to play with a stethoscope anyway, LOL.
