    Sorry, can't help myself:

Grady is pretty safe inside, there's a group that has some semblance of order but the leader is a control freak. Outside the barbed wire there are quite a few walkers, but all-in-all it's a safe zone.

    Thanks

You are not the only one who thought of the Walking Dead with this post!!!

To the OP: Grady is a Level 1 trauma center and the clientele can be a little rough. It's not the best part of Atlanta, but you will always be busy and you will see everything! I am not staff there so I can't comment on that, but I know the area and I have known people who worked there a long time ago.

I work there but not as a RN. As Pixie stated, it's a Level 1 trauma center and you will see everything. I consider it safe no matter which shift (day/evening). there is ALWAYS security around and if you feel unsafe walking to your car to the parking deck, you can be escorted. I can not speak for the nursing administration, but like any job you work, you have those who are content, so-so, and just plain miserable. My advise, continue to reach out and find nurses that work there or in the area you would like to join. You'll have to keep an open mind about opinions. Also, visit the hospital to get a feel of the general population. Good luck!

Not at this time; as I said, I know people who worked there in the past (like 5 years ago).

I currently work at Grady and I can tell you it's not a piece of cake. You will work your behind off, but it is worth it. I have learned so much from adapting to certain situations and rolling with the punches. The patient population is a blessing to work with and I am happy to work there. Just like any other job, there will be things you like and don't like. We are short staffed some days and that provides opportunities for overtime and PTO. From what I hear, the pay is average if not slightly higher here than other hospitals. Working at Grady is like a love/hate relationship. The teamwork here is spectacular and you don't have to worry about feeling alone. There is always someone in the trenches with you.
