U.S.A. Georgia

Who's applied to GPC for the fall?

Does anyone know if its true, that they're only accepting 120students for the Fall?? I asked my friend who is currently in the program she's unsure. I also asked advising and they said it was true. I think last sem they accepted either 140 or 160. I wonder why they would decrease the amount of spots.

Weird bc at the info session I attended in the summer they said they'd be accepting 160. Wonder what happened. Less a teacher makes the most sense. I hope it goes back up to 160+ considering there's no spring admission.

Nurse2b7337,

I attend the information session in December of 2012. They said the reason for accepting less students is because they do not have enough teachers for more students. Bottom line, if they had more people (nurses) interested in teaching, there would be more openings for students. Thought you may want to know.

Yeah, at the info meeting in December they said that they usually get between 450-500 eligible applicants, of those 200 get acceptance letters, and of those about 140 students start the program. When students asked why they sent out 200 letters to only let in 140, they said that it's because not everyone that gets the acceptance letters ACTUALLY attends the programs, whether bc they got in somewhere else or bc of personal reasons.

Thank you. I already have an email ready. Just wanted any info before I send it. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for clearing that up. The last info session I attended was one from last semester but it wasn't as recent as December. Did they mention anything else that stood out in yr mind?? I'm so glad we have this outlet to reach out to. :)

Does the 450-500 eligible applicants scare anyone else? Hopefully by "eligible" they don't mean competitive...I know athens tech gets close to that number but they say most of them are not competitive...I wish they did an essay or interview or something to help you stand out! Thats a lot of applicants!!!

I think that "eligible" just means they meet the minimum requirements- at least a 2.7 GPA, 65 on TEAS, etc...
