Georgia baptist college of nursing/Mercer University Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey! Just wanted to start a forum for anybody applying to this program for fall 2018. I have everything turned in and I'm just waiting for it all to process on the portal. I retook some science course after I dropped out of school for three years but managed to repeat all my classes with an a so my science gpa is looking like a 3.7 but it will be a 2.9 if it is averaged but I am not sure. I have 400 hours of volunteer service. 2 years of CNA experience. 1 year of managent experience ans I got an 85.3 on my teas first try. Feel free to share your stats or your anticipation! If I'm accepted I also would like to know my future colleagues :)

Yeah I think it has to be done prior to starting the program.

Does anyone know when they're going to start releasing admission decisions? After reading through some previous years forums, it looks like they've gone out as early as December.

Yep it'll be December. My counselor confirmed this. So two more weeks everybody! :)

@kimandthekinks Thank-you so much! That would be great! Now I'm starting to get nervous lol. My gpa isn't great, but I did well on the TEAS and have all A's and a few B's for my pre-reqs, so I'm hoping that will be enough.

Good luck! P.S...am I the only one who has been checking Portal every single chance I get??

Mercer looks at applicants hositiscally. Besides, eveyone I have seen with that avatar has gotten into their school lol good luck! :D teas definitely will give you a fighting chance if it was 84 and up?

I check the portal everydayyyyy, and I don't even have anything else to turn in lol I just keep checking it anyways.

I went to one of their open houses a few months ago and I really enjoyed getting to talk to some of their current students and the campus is beautiful. It would be amazing to go there! And I was so excited when my portal said that my application was finally "under review". Now the waiting is killing me though haha. I got an 89.3 on my TEAS, so I'm really hoping that it helps, but I'm so glad that they have a holistic approach to their application review.

I hate to be the person to say this but...

You should really try hard to go somewhere else. I was accepted and attended this semester. My experience was awful. I struggle with mental health and have had setbacks because of it. But I have maintained good grades and a competitive Teas score. I decided to attend Mercer because I didn't want to retake a class at GSU. It was the worse decision I have made in my life. They are insensitive to you, police you, do not respect you, and the faculty is very petty. Race is also an issue, it was worse with the senior class but still noticeable. Be extremely careful who you vent to or hears you complain. They targeted me after a few outspoken moments. I apologized but was never allowed to forget it. I had to take a medical withdrawal because I was hospitalized for my depression. The faculty did not try to help me even though I wasn't failing. They went out of their way to fail me (The doctor gave me a medical excuse but the assistant dean still wanted me to do a medical clearance in 24 hours. It was supposed to be done by a psychiatrist. How was this supposed to be accomplished? A lot of places aren't taking pt or won't see you for weeks. The dean said without it I couldn't return to clinical and would be failed. I argued and emailed her the doctor cleared me. She continued to harass me about it.) and forced me to withdraw. It is an awful institution. The financial aid is also full of commitments. D2D cripples students instead of helping...

I am going back to GSU and finishing my degree there.

Specializes in ICU.

If anyone has any questions about Mercer please feel free to reach out to me! I currently attend the nursing school. My experience has been quite the opposite of the other poster who had a surprisingly negative experience.

May I ask what was your stats? And how is it so far? What year are you

What class are you apart of? The JR class and even senior class has had issues all semester. I have spoken with upper class students and was even planning to pursue legal action against the faculty. It is honestly surprising to hear the opposite. Do you also participate in D2D or have faculty mentor? The surveillance is completely different in that case.

As far as stats if anyone wants to know

overall 3.3

science 3.7

TEAS 80

I applied in Mar and was accepted in April. It was a short time between applying and hearing back.
