I just got my letter on Thursday! How are you liking it so far? Got any tips for me as a beginner? Do we need allllll the books we got on the list?

Good, congrats. Well it is hard but instructors want to help you and you must stay focused it can be done though and yes the required books is a must some people do not get books because they do not read them but reading books were helpful to me. also i would get the hesi book which is not required

Thanks for the advice. How were clinicals? What rotations did you do for Junior year?

My Clinicals were done at st francis and medical center and the experience you have will depend on which instructor you had. Clinicals jr year were basically med-surg and geriatrics at the nursing home.I enjoyed clinicals learn alot and can relate it back to textbook stuff. I am sure I will meet you i am a senior class officer and will be communicating with the jr class alot.

Sounds great! Can't wait to start:)

I was wondering what kind of GPA prospective nurses at CSU have and how many people apply versus how many actaully get in?? I have almost completed all of the pre-req's and am so on the fence about whether or not it will be worth it to continue and ultimately apply. Very worried about getting turned down after having gone so far! Any info would be helpful!! I will (hopefully) be applying for the Fall 2011 timeframe.

I was told that last year everyone with a 3.11 and above got in and the year before that it was a 3.2 ish. This year I think is probably about the same. There are about 150 applicants and about 90 are accepted is what I have been told.

What is your current GPA?

I think my current GPA is 2.8 BUT that is from taking all of my science classes. The classes that I have left to take prior to applying will be all core and I am pretty sure I can use those to increases my GPA. I tend to make all A's in those for some reason! LOL. So the classes that I have left are Chem, Stat (dreading those) and Hist, Art, World Lit, the phy ed course, PELM, etc. 9 total. Any advice for me?

I took World Lit with Dr. **** and loved her class. There's reading homework for every class period but it's never more than 30 to 50 pages. The quizzes over them were simple if you read and it made the class an easy A.

I had Stat with ***. SHe's super hard to understand because she's Chinese. If you can get past that she's pretty good.

There isn't a good teacher for Chem 1 really, but **** better than ****. Dr. **** is really GREAT for CHem 2 and his class is hard to get into because everybody knows it:) Any other questions? I'd be glad to answer:)

I just relized that you are the same person from the other post! LOL

I will look at what I need and ask you from there. I have it all written down. Because I just applied to CSU I am not sure how easy it will be to get into Chem. I see already that it is super full. I will have to look again at the instructor names. I made a C in Micro and a B in A&P I and a C in A&P II. They were super hard for me because I was taking Micro and A&P at the sam time along with 12 other creditsI was waaay overloaded.

I was seriously considering doing Respiratory Therapy or Sonography at Cols Tech but if I do that and don't get in then I would be really screwed up. But I really want to shoot for the BSN just to say I did it.

Have you taken the HESI? If so do you ahve the study guide for it? The .pdf version that I keep seeing here on AllNurses?

What kind of grades did you have in Micro and A&P? and Statistics?
