U.S.A. Georgia

Hello..

Does has anyone from this site attended or planning to attend columbus tech's adn program in columbus, ga?

I'm currently enrolled doing my pre-reqs and I plan on applying march 2011.

So anyone have any tips?

Advice?

Interview help?:)

Hi Jessica,

I currently attend Columbus Tech's ADN program, just started in July. I'm impressed with the program so far and the instructors are really great. It's very competitive, as I'm sure you are aware, so do the best you can on your pre-reqs, do well on the NLN and try to relax during the interview. Come dressed for the interview as you would for a job interview.

I would also suggest taking as many of the non-nursing courses you can prior to the nursing program. There are many students who are having to take those courses along with the nursing courses and it's a lot for them to handle. It will save you a lot of stress if you can just focus on the nursing courses.

Good luck!!

And what non-nursing courses would you suggest?

thanks

I didn't take ENG1101 at CTC, I transferred all of the pre-reqs, so I can't help you regarding specifics with the class, but I would suggest going to the learning center. They should be able to help you with whatever is giving you trouble.

Regarding the non-nursing courses -- From what I'm hearing from other students, try to get ENG1102 out of the way before the program if you can, it's apparently a lot of work and time consuming. Go through the curriculum posted online and try to get as many of those completed that you can (Sociology, Humanities, Speech, Microbiology).

Any other questions, just let me know and I'll try to help you out. You can send me a PM as well. I don't get on here too often, so it may be a while before I get your message, but I'll help with whatever I can. :)

I am also trying to compete for the program in July 2011 my preqreq have already been taken I transferred and I did make all B's on those so if you would say anything do you think the better you do on all your test and prereq the higher chances at getting in? What type of questions do they ask you at the interview? Als well i am waiting I am taking the other classes that are non nursing classes.

Hello, can someone answer this question for me, how many days per week are expected from a nursing student at Columbus tech, to attend if you have completed all core classes and if a person is doing the lpn to rn bridge

I am really nervous about the interview process and their questions, but all I can do is my very best.

Regarding the interview, there is a panel of three people that ask the questions. Some of it is your basic "tell me about yourself", "why do you want to be a nurse", "what qualities do you think make a good nurse", etc. Just try to relax. They really do try to make you feel at ease and comfortable.

As far as the days to be expected to be in class/clinicals, we are told to expect to be doing something either on campus or in clinicals M-F. They discourage working if at all possible since they will not arrange the clinicals or class time to fit a working schedule. Also, you cannot work past 11:30 p.m. the night before a clinical, so if you must work then it would be best to try to get a night shift on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hope this helps!
