U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I was just wanting to see how my fellow students are doing with applying and having to wait till October to find out if we got accepted into the program starting Spring 2013.

How did everyone do on their TEAS?

Any questions or concerns?

I'm in too! Exciting time ladies. Congratulations to you all. Erica your time is coming soon!

Congrats Lisa! I knew you would get in!!!!! I am happy for all of you! I wish I could celebrate this moment with you all as well!

Hey everyone. So I am moving to the marietta area at the end of the month and I want to go to nursing school. I have an associates in comp sci but besides the algebra and english pre reqs it fills, its irrelevant. So where do i start? I guess obviously starting my pre reqs, but where should I do it at? What are the major differences between the programs at chattahoochee and georgia highlands or kennesaw state? Are any of them easier to get accepted into? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Eddie-

Definitely get your pre-reqs out of the way. Find out which each school needs for their nursing programs and then get the highest scores on them! Especially the science classes which will most than likely weigh on whether or not you make it into a program.

I do not personally know how KSU or Georgia Highlands operates. I know I did talk with Georgia Highlands and on top of all the classes I had taken at Chatt Tech, they wanted me to take History and Chemistry. KSU is a good school- it is quite large! But they gave me a bad taste in my mouth when I drove all the way to Kennesaw, got lost on their campus, and then finally found the administration building to talk to someone about the nursing program and which credits would transfer- and all they gave me was a phone number on a sticky note. I was so upset. They told me they did not have any time to discuss it with me, but if I called them they would help me, it made NO SENSE! But its whatever. I might do my BSN with KSU eventually, but for now I am sticking with Chatt Tech through LPN school and then my LPN-RN bridge.

As for easiness to get into the program... good luck finding anything "easy" to get into. It is all competitive, but if you get those grades, and a TEAS score- you can do it!! I do know Georgia Highlands had 900+ applicants on their last admission into a nursing program, but I do not know how many seats they had. Chatt Tech has 24 seats for the programs with probably 100 or so applicants. And KSU is probably around 1000+, but they most likely have more seats available!

Good luck Eddie and I hope I was some help!

Callie,

Thank you so much, you were LOTS of help!

Question though.. so you just got accepted into the LPN program? So when you guys were talking about TEAS and GPA's and getting acceptance letters... that was for LPN school? Are you going that route since the nursing programs are so competitive? Really new to all this, so sorry if my questions dont make sense ;)

I was on track to RN but I lost my financial aid and could not afford my microbiology. I also scored a 81.3% on TeAS and the cut off for RN was like an 84% so instead of waiting another year to reapply- I decided to apply for the LPN program and begin something!! I gave you info on KSU and ga highlands for the RN program though... I don't believe they have the lPN program.

Chatt tech will be opening the bridge from LPN to RN in 2014, right when I am finished!!! :)

And the LPN program is a little less competitive than the RN programs, less people apply for it and the TeAs score was a little lower set. We still had to be selected for 24 seats out of a bunch of applicants!

Gotch ya. Ive got some decisions to make. I am going to Georgia Highlands and Chatt tech today to talk to someone. At least I am going in somewhat informed now... Thanks!

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering what everyones' thoughts were about starting a Facebook page for our class?! I saw that the Paulding Class 2011 had one and it is a closed members only group so that if you aren't accepted in then you can't see what is on the page. I thought this might be a good way for us all to get to know each other better and also to get each others contact information in case we have a break down in our vehicles or need help studying... etc.

Just a thought. Let me know and I will be happy to create one for us!

I just responded with my decision to decline the LPN seat for Spring 2013. Good luck to all of you especially the lucky person that gets my seat!!

Heeeey!!!! I made a 98% on the test... Callie and Lisa, it is too easy. If you use the notes I sent you, that is the test. I do have a question about the one that was marked wrong, so really, I should have a 100....Good luck to you!

Which exam are we supposed to take? There exam 4 and test 4? Both under the lessons tab...

The one that says Exam 4 over Chapters 15-19
