Brenau Part-time Spring 2014

U.S.A. Georgia

Is anyone else applying for the part-time Spring 2014 term? Any full-time applicants?

All I can do is pray and hope that my score is good enough to get accepted. It is such a long wait. Based on the website the Nursing admission deadline is August 1st and acceptance letters are sent out in September.

They have got to not have enough applicants right now because dates keep changing I swear! So frustrating because I'm all set to figure out whether or not I'm going to get in!!

Hey ladies! Congrats on taking and passing the Kaplan. My score was 68 so don't feel bad. I got 88 on both the Math and English but the Writing (64 I think) and Science (in the 40s) brought my score down. On the Critical Thinking section I only missed two questions so I was proud about that. I am considering on taking it again since they posted up two more dates. The only reason I am considering on retaking it is because I would like to get into the program since it is part-time. But really all I can do is just pray and finishing passing the classes I am taking. I just really want to know what they put more weight on, the grades or the Kaplan score. Let's keep positive!

I think they put equal weight on both but in different ways..... But they probably can balance each other too like if you have a 4.0 but get a 62 on the kaplan they probably give more weight to your grades and the other way too. I have a middle of the road g.p.a like probably 3.5 with my pre-reqs and a little lower overall g.p.a and got a 79 on the kaplan so I'm probably a good candidate vs. great or superb. Atleast that's my logic. If I had a higher g.p.a I'd be more sure of myself. I feel like due dates and deadlines for the part-time program keep changing so take advantage of it! I can send you some of the flash cards I used and math worksheets I did. I got a 97 on math I think strictly because of my worksheets on mixed fractions.

Hey ladies, I just found this thread. I have applied for the part time program starting in January 2014. I took the Kaplan earlier this month and now I guess we just wait till September...

Welcome dougp! :) Do you mind sharing your stats? (gpa and Kaplan score) Are you done with the prereqs? Good luck to you! :)

Thank you Adria,

I don't mind sharing. For GPA, it might be complicated. Do they just use recent? I have a 3.71 at Gwinnett Tech which was from my EMT program and prerequisites. But, I have an undergrad, GPA 3.16 and an MBA / Graduate degree (GPA 4.0).

I got an 86 on the Kaplan. I have API & II out of the way and have Psych and Micro now.

Wow, dougp, you're doing great! Congrats! Not sure about which gpa they go by. I'm assuming they will take in consideration the overall gpa of all the classes you have taken since you've started college...regardless of the degree. Maybe your adviser is a better person to answer this question. Are you able to finish all prereqs before Jan 2014? Good luck to you again and please keep us posted with any news about the program. :)

Adria,

I think once you average everything out it should be fine.

I have been working behind a desk for 25 years and am looking forward to doing something a little different.

Yes, I have an English class in Summer semester and am taking Chemistry at Benau in the fall.

Hello dougp! Your stats look great!:) Waiting till September is going to kill me. Welcome to the board and good luck to you through the process! :)

Thanks Glenna, I know what you mean about the wait. This is the only program I have applied to so far. So, I sort of have all of my eggs in one basket.

I am accepted into Georgia State as an undergrad. I did my MBA there. I could apply to their accelerated nursing program. It sure would be nice to get it done in 14 months instead of 3 years.

It is hard to walk away from the paychecks, though...

Yes this is the only program I've applied to. I got into Ksu and Clayton state and one of the nursing professors at Clayton is a friend's mother which would be nice to know someone that could act as a mentor but the part time program really works with my personal and professional life well. I really don't want to give up the paychecks and this program gives me more time to spend with my family.

Now to just get through the summer. Hopefully we at least get some updates along the way.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Pediatrics.

I am in the same boat concerning the paychecks and the time that would it take out my family. I already told my in-laws how they will probably see my son more than me when nursing school starts! This is going to be a long wait! However, I am thinking that I should have some backup plans in case I am not admitted. I really don't want to wait until 2015 to start the program.

ummasim,

I agree, the sooner we start the sooner we will finish.

Let's get rolling.
