Breastfeeding in hospitals

U.S.A. Georgia

Are there any nurses in the South GA area who know if their hospitals allow their nurses to take breaks to breastfeed/pump?

Spalding Regional in Griffin does. The nurse uses her lunch breaks and the allowed "coffee" breaks, but a lot depends on the area you work and what is going on. Quite a few nurses, pharmacists/pharmacy workers, PT and RT people bring the pump equipment they got as a patient back to the nursery area and are told of a quiet, empty room/place they can go pump.

The Medical Center in Columbus Ga where i work does as well. Either you can bring your own pump and do it in an empty room, or what I do is go to the pumping room in the NICU, where they have Symphony pumps you can use, just bring the tubing and kit. they are very lenient about letting you go pump, just as long as youre caught up in your work.

I just read something today that in the new health care bill, there is a section that covers requiring women to have a quiet and private place to breast feed or pump at work. I thought that was pretty interesting.

Yes, the hospital in Valdosta, Georgia allows nurses to leave the floor to pump
