Anyone applying to NGCSU Fall 2012?

U.S.A. Georgia

Hi, I'm new to this site, and I just wanted to see who has all applied to North Georgia College and State University. Anyone with experiences, or others who have applied please reply with your stats...It would be greatly appreciated!

I'm just trying to get a general idea of what my stats should be like or what I should expect if im accepted. I have a 3.5 GPA and I just recently took my TEAS saturday so I am waiting on my score (Crosses fingers) :):):):)

Thanks!

Thanks for the info, kmp5! Nope, the psyc and doenges book are separate. juliekj3: All students will go to the main campus on the 20th for orientation. As for the Nurs 1100, I was told that I have Monday 9-11:05 and the leadership class (Nurs 1200) from 11:15-12:10. Nurs 1020 is nutrition online. I hear lab was either wed or fri at 8am -12pm or 12 pm to 4 pm. It then changes to clinicals, which begin at the site at 6:30am and ends around 2:30. Any special lectures or whatnot will be every now and then on the day we do not have clinicals...sometimes at the main campus. Clinicals start 7 weeks after classes starts. That's all I know/heard!

Once a week would be great and that makes sense with what I've read from the other post. I'm anxious to get started and find out what's in store for us!

...and congratulations juliekj3!!!!!!! :)

Thanks Tumbleweeds10! That's a huge help. Wow. I love this forum. I have been able to learn more from this site than any other source. :) . I wonder what the likelihood would be to get to choose our lab days. I've got to take microbiology and it of course conflicts with some of the other classes. Okay, next question: I keep reading post about the iclicker... what's that all about? I've ordered my uniform, shoes, pen light and bloodpressure cuff. I was going to pick up the books for NURS 1100 and 1020 while on campus during orientation. Is there something else I'm missing or is the iclicker part of the book package?

Also, does anyone have any idea about what to expect during orientation? I know I still have to get "advised" but I'm curious as to what the activities will be for the other 7 hours

The iclicker is $45.94, tested out last year and now mandatory for classes. I think it lets you interact during lectures. There is also a $99 lab kit that we need. The NURS bundle book set has several books and along with the bundle (it was broken out in an email from the nursing department...did you get that??) there is a Doenges Nursing Care Plan and a American Psychology book that I was told we do not get until next year, but there is a conflict of information about that!

Orientation....no idea! We get our schedules, but will not be registered until the first day of classes. Weird. I'm sure it will talk about everything we could ever dream of, including the iclicker!

I bought the book bundle a few weeks ago and the two books not included in the bundle were the Nursing Care Plan book (which I bought used) and the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association, which is the APA writing style manual that we will use to write our papers. So it's not a Psyc book, but a writing style manual....maybe that clears up any confusion?

No, I never got any email from the nursing department. I was orginally wait listed and just got my acceptance letter a few weeks ago. They sent me the letter of acceptance, information about ordering uniforms, orientation date, and the form for the drug test and back ground information. I hand delivered everything in person to make sure the department go it and I haven't heard anything since. :( Hmmmmmm I may have to email the nursing dept and asked them to resend it. Is there anything else that was sent that I should ask for?

We will need the Care Plan book, and also the APA book mentioned below. The APA book isn't for our psych course, it details how to write APA papers which we will do our first semester. In the past the Care Plan book was not used until second semester, but that could change this year - I'm not sure yet.

Wow. I get the worst person to answer the phone when it comes to North Ga! I even gave the isbn for the book and said the entire title! The girl said the psych book was not needed until next year! I didn't look at the title again, thinking she knew what she was talking about! And why the people in the nursing department could not answer if the book was needed.....good grief! Anyway, I'm sure every question we could ever have will be answered next week!

juliekj3: Just that we don't need to buy shoes from the meridy site. As long as they are completely enclosed and white with no other color (or very little). And I agree, this site has been so helpful!

Orientation is 16th. School starts 20th

I recieved an e-mail from my mentor, I nearly missed it as junk mail. I am thinking about going for the open house too. I need to go up there anyways to find a daycare for my daughter.

yeah, I just got an email from my mentor last night. I asked her several questions and I'm now waiting on her response. I'll post her answers here when I get them because I'm sure we all have the same questions
