That's two weeks earlier than last year's deadline (April 26th) So maybe we will hear something before May 15. I believe its a 2 1/2-3 week turn around time. So the wait won't be long girls!!!

I guess so! I can hardly wait to get that letter and sink my heels onto the path of becoming an RN. Anyhoo, yesterday's pre-nursing advisement for Fall 2013 was okay. Here are some of the things we've discussed, so far:

-- Incoming ASN students won't be grandfathered into the new traditional/generic BSN program
-- Chemistry will become mandatory for the new BSN program (we used to be allowed to choose between that, Biology 1107 & 1108, and 1010 and 1110, and Physics)
-- NURS 2603 Into Prof Nurs Theory and Concepts will be mandatory for those applicants who wish to apply for the new BSN program in Dec. 15th
-- The ASN minimum GPA and TEAS V requirements will remain for the new BSN program

I informed her that I won't be pursuing another application cycle this time, so the new BSN program curriculum won't be of much use to me, except for the RN-BSN bridge.

If you got into the nursing program this year will you have to take chemistry or will you be grandfathered in the BSN program? Because I took 1107/1108.

Since you took that Biology sequence, you won't have to take Chemistry. Incoming ASN students will not be grandfathered into the new BSN program.

I'd rather take any Biology sequence than finish my Chemistry sequence (the first part was taken in the 90's!). Unfortunately, the new BSN program will make Chemistry mandatory. :'(

Oh no I'm so sorry! At least you're halfway there though! Why are they changing it?

I don't know why they're changing it and adding at least a pre-nursing course, but it makes sense. Pharmacology would entail at least some Chemistry.

I went to my advising today and was told that if you had begun a sequence other than chemistry you can finish that out and it will count regardless if you were accepted this year or not! But if you hadn't taken any at all you automatically had to do chem.

Yes, finishing a sequence is counted. Like I said, you are all set since you've finished the Biology 1107/1108 sequence. Lucky!

I'm think since I have a BS in Biology I don't have to worry too much abt that. I believe I am exempt from Areas A-E and maybe even Area F. And even if I did. I have chemistry courses as well as physics courses!

I'm not sure how true this is but I heard quite a few people were not going to go through with acceptance. So good luck to you guys still waiting! I was in your shoes last year.

Did they get accepted somewhere else? I sure hope I get off the wait list this year.

    Thanks for the info megjorden!
