What happens to LPN license if I can't pay by renewal date??? Please help me!

by donna52

Hello everyone,
I have been an LPN since 1972 graduating from Thomasville Vocational School in Thomasville, Ga. It is called something else now. Anyway, I live in Jacksonville, Fl and have been keeping both state nursing licenses active.

My dilema is that I haven't been keeping track of when my Ga. license expires this year, and that is not like me at all, but this year has been hectic in many ways. I really don't have the funds right now to renew my license on the 31st of March. I am hoping to pay late because all my funds right now needs to go elsewhere.

My question is what happens if I can't renew my license on time? Will I be able to get it back with a late fee, or will I have to take a test again? I hope they have a reinstatement period to where all I have to do is pay a late fee. Please if someone knows what I have to do to get my license back let me know. I have been on the Ga. nursing board website but it is so confusing and I can't find the answers.

Thank you,
Donna

In my state you actually have like a 30 day grace period. After that, you have to pay a late fee. Send it in when you get the money and see what happens. If you owe a late fee, they will contact you. You can also look for this info on the website or call them to find out what to do. Good luck.

Contact them immediately and ask them directly about their procedures. You don't want to assume anything and end up sorry you did. They may have standard procedures for people in your situation -- payment plan, etc. By contacting them directly, you can be sure you do it right.

The late fee runs April 1-June30, which is $75. After that, your license lapses.
