I took my CNA C ourse at the American Red Cross in Brandon, Florida. My training including my hands on skills at a nursing home took about 3 months.

Whatever you do, do the research, I found a place on the web that said you can take the course online, at your own pace, and it's originated out of Atlanta, GA. St. Augustine, it's not real! Good Luck!!! I'm doing the same. I don't know about GA, but here in indiana, there are agencies that will pay more. You float to different hospitals and just wherever they need you. The ones here pay roughly 15-20/hr. depending on the shift and day. I think Mon-Fri day shift makes 15, as opposed to working nights on the weekends you make 20. So, if you could find that it would be better!! Like I said, good luck!!!

I've seen CNA used interchangably with Patient Care Technician. I haven't been able to find any CNA courses here in GA, just the one patient care techincian at Georgia Medical Institute. I think both functions are similar.

I did find a link to nurses aide programs in GA. After completion of the program of 85 hours and a successful examination, you'll be certified.

any Ivy Tech should have the course. It's like 500 dollars and about a 3 month course. You should also try hospitals and nursing homes in your area. I know of a hospital in Indianapolis that offers it and also a couple of nursing homes that offer it (the nursing homes offer it free though). You might also ask any high school (that might have some type of special health class, like a Health Occupations - Vocational school); sometimes they offer those classes to their students. They might be able to help you.

You can find a free listing of all the CNA programs in Georgia at http://www.cnatips.com, make sure you choose CNA Classes from menu and then pick your state from the map. Good luck!
