I am just curious (as I am sure a lot of others are) how your first day of classes went whenever you started nursing school?

What all happenned that first day? Was it mainly an overview or did you get down and dirty as soon as you walked in? ALL information (may it be great or small) is appreciated! I think we ALL are afraid of the "unknown"--:uhoh3: so any light shed will be greatlyyyyyyy appreciated!!!!

thanks in advance!

Our first day wasn't bad at all. Our team of instructors came in and introduced themselves, they showed us a PowerPoint slideshow of the class ahead of us, they explained how everything would work, and they had refreshments for us as well. They were very nice and helped put us all at ease.

First day of 2nd semester was a little different. Everyone was just as nice, but we did jump right into it after the course coordinator went over what we could expect that semester.

Don't worry, it'll be fine!! :)

brandi. . .check out this thread that an lpn student started recently as kind of a journal of her first days of nursing school:

I thought our first day of NS would be a complete overview with not much of lecture or actual work....wrong. We came in, the instructor came in and started lecturing....for 3 hrs. After the 3 hours we met our clinical instructors and had an overview of what clinicals would be like. BEst of luck! NS is a huge roller coaster but overall I am enjoying it but can't wait to graduate in December.

I remember that our first days passed in a haze of learning the nursing process and learning general skills......Figuring out which instructors were good and which one was the FEARED one...lol....trying to figure out who was good to hang out with and who were the real stuck up "I'm too good for this" people.....would you believe most of them didn't pass 1st time around?

One more piece of advice since I saw locolorenzo22 mention it. You'll definitely (or more than likely) hear about the "feared" instructor....I know I did. Always wait to see for yourself before you worry too much about said instructor. Sometimes the consensus is correct, other times you'll end up loving that instructor. That happened in my case! The "feared one" ended up being the most helpful to me! :)

My first day was stressful. They gave us all of the info on projects, clinicals, they gave us syllabi, etc. It was overwhelming but it all fell into place.
