Congratulations!! It took me 3 tries the first time, I said 3 strikes and I'm out but was able to get it. Congrats to you, a big hurdle overcome!

:hatparty: Yeah!!! The first one I did in clinicals ( a few weeks ago) I was so SCARED. I tried to look and act professional - but, on the inside I do not think I have ever been so nervous. I am so glad you got it in the first try. Great job!

    Woot! That's awesome!

My story is that I got the first person I ever tried. Then I proceeded to miss about the next 20. Was very frustrating. Now I'm pretty good.

Congrats to all the new IV starters! Isn't it a great feeling???

Tweety - I had a similar experience. My school didn't let us practice on each other, and rarely on patients. Then in hospital orientation I wasn't allowed to take the IV class because I was going to NICU. So my first IV start was six months after I started working...on my birthday no less! I had an admission, a 3 pound 30-week preemie, and got the IV on the first stick! Ten minutes later, I got the arterial stick as well for the labs!!!

Since then, I think I only get 1 out of every 10 IV's I try for. Still get almost every art stick though!
