hey everyone!

i will not be starting nursing school until january '09 but i would like to be as prepared as possible.

i have even read a few books (mosby's tour guide to ns & how to survive and maybe even love ns).

does anyone have any suggestions of what i can do to prepare myself more for ns?

thanks!

Have you gotten any material from your school yet - syllabus, study guides, etc? That would allow you to focus and prepare for your particular program.

Also, perhaps talk to students currently in the program (have a few grains of salt nearby).

Talk to the nursing dept. at your school and ask them what they would suggest.

Plan ahead for your schedule - you'll need time to study, as well as to occasionally relax and de-stress, so make sure to arrange your commitments to allow for the time you'll need for class work as well as clinicals.

Speaking of clinicals, buy your uniform and other materials, and get any medical tests, shots, and examinations you'll need.

If you can buy your textbooks in advance you could start reading now, having the syllabus would help with that.

That's about all I can think of. Congratulations and best of luck. Nursing school can be a lot of fun, not just a lot of work, so enjoy it!

THarem shared some great advice, and I would add to Stay STRONG, and stay clear of drama from your peers as much as you can. Especially the peers who do not study and do badly on their exams, and do not put the time into their careplans etc and complain that the professors are picking on them...Find a peer who you can relate to and form a good bond to help each other with notes, studying etc.

Good LUck and Best Wishes!!
