Hi all will be applying to nursing school
this week for the third time.I was considering takind up a care givers course which also includes first aid and CPR.Was wondering if this would give me an added edge over other applicants who will all have the required pre-reqs.What do you think?

As the other posters have suggested, it depends on the school. My school gives no points for CPR/First Aid.
If you really want to know what will give you an edge in the application process, you need to contact a counselor and find out exactly what is expected of you as an applicant. Then ask him/her if there are any factors that are weighed heavier then others. Sometimes EMTs and CNAs have an edge over people who have NO health care experience and sometimes they do not. At my school, an extra edge is given to people who have completed all of his/her co-requisite courses. So people who are only finished with pre-requisites are flat out of luck. :spin:
