Which one did you do while in Nursing school?

My job is very flexible with my schedule and I'll be starting Nursing School in August. I wanted to know from people have attended nursing school while working, did you prefer working on weekends and focusing on school on the weekdays, work on the weekdays and focus on school on the weekend,or did you just study late after school on weekdays and just worked any day? I'm trying to decide which one I should do.

I just completed a part time ADN program and I worked full time and had a part time job(10-15 hours). Our classes were Mondays and Wednesdays with clinicals on Saturday or Sunday. Took 3 years to complete including prerequisites but I had most of those completed from my previous bachelors degree.

I bartended nights on weekends through nursing school. Full time in the pre reqs, 2 nights a week first year of nursing school and 1 night a week the last year of nursing school. That was about all I could handle. I wasn't able to keep up the 2 nights a week the last year. But that was to keep me at no more than one B in a semester.

My opinion is it's fine to work in nursing school but the second it affects your school you need to be willing to quit.

I waited tables on weekends - Friday to Sunday. Unless I had a big test on Monday I skipped Sunday or just worked lunch hours.

I made it through school without debt/loan with my ADN, RN title.

Now I'm planning to work full time as a midnight nurse and then do my BSN part online, part campus.

Interested in seeing the responses because I'm trying to decide what to do as well. I was thinking about just working on the weekends. I'm taking out loans for school, but I absolutely do not want to take out loans for living expenses or car payments. I would love to have as little debt as possible.

I worked full time nights, so I just worked whatever nights that didn't have clinical the next morning. To be honest, I like to party occasionally, so I wouldn't want to be stuck working every weekend.

I'm in the process of getting a PRN PCT position. I'd like to work two 16s and an 8 a week if I can. I only have class twice a week and clinical once a week.

I work from home and will be starting my ADN program this fall. My schedule is mixed so I'll probably to work /school during the week and mostly studying during the weekend. I doubt I'll be able to work more than 10-15 hours per week because my school schedule is so choppy this semester.

I always worked part-time which was about 2 shifts a week. Mostly friday, sat, or sun. If I had an exam on a monday, I would try to take sunday off and study. I focused on homework during the week and tried to finish homework a couple of days before it was due, or at least start on it.

My nursing schedule generally had the same layout, but it could sometime vary wildly. One semester we had clinical twice a week in two different areas and fitting 3 shifts and studying time in there was miserable. I had to work full-time though...

Yeah I will also have to work full-time. But I figure if I can break all my hours down into only working 2 days (sometimes 3) then it would probably work pretty well especially if I can break up my working days throughout the week.

I *think* my school schedule will be 8-1 M and W and then clinical 6-6 on F. So that would give me T, TH, SA, and SU available to work. If I do two of those days that still gives me two open days during the week.

I usually don't touch my books on the weekends. But I also have not had a class on a Monday yet either, but I will this fall. The only time I ever worked on school on the weekends was if I had a big project due. The weekends are my time to spend with family. I do though study and work my tail off during the week so my weekends are available. I studied while my son was still in school, while he was at practices, I would get up really early like 5am and study. That was what worked best for me.
