 i just wanted to see where all my fellow texans are and where about you live.

i am in the dallas area (grew up in houston) and will start school this coming year. i will be taking the before classes (which may take me forever).

i am a sahm and will start off taking a class or two at night until i make my way to the nursing program (adn).

Well, I went to TCU, now my wife is. While I will studying at TCC south. Or UTA. Which ever program accepts me.

Texas Nurses unite!

old-master has spoken..........

Hey Y'all---

I'm also in the Dallas area. I just finished up my pre-reqs at Richland, and I'm waiting to hear if I will be accepted at UTA or TWU. I also applied to Texas Tech.

I have a really good friend at Baylor---she is in her second semester. She likes it so far, but I don't think I could handle the tuition.

Hopefully I'll hear something from the schools I have applied to soon. I'm starting to get nervous.

Good luck to you all.

Susan

Specializes in ICU, ER, HH, NICU, now FNP.

If you guys are in Dallas area, some hospitals will pay for your nursing school if you work for them! Call around and ask how much tuition reimbursement they provide. Get a part time or full time job at whichever one is willing to pay for your school or ask if they will pay for your school if you commit to work there after grad even though you arent working there now. Also there is a grant called an APEX grant available through the Texas Workforce Commission. I heard THR hospitals are offering up to 4k per year!!!! Financial aid should NOT be a problem for nursing students right now!!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Howdy!

I'm down here in Houston - Clear Lake area. I'm still working prereqs at San Jac South. I'll be attending either San Jac Central or Alvin in the fall. From the posts, it seems I'm the only one from this area.

I guess that explains why I didn't get a response about which of the two schools above are considered to have the better programs.

HI Fellow Texans!!!!!! I attend NCTC ( North Central Texas College). I am still completing all my non -nursing curriculum. I plan on applying for the ADN program in the spring!

Just thought I would say hi. I'm originally from SE Texas but now living in Austin. I'm in the process of completing my pre-reqs at ACC and intend to transfer to a 4-year nursing program somewhere else in the state.

Cheers!

Hello fellow Texan.........I live in Ft. Worth...just next door..Ha ha. I used to live in Galveston. Have you noticed how scarce nursing programs are here compared to Houston. I want to move back I miss it. Feel free to email me if you need any local information. I grew up in Dallas.

Michelle

Hello All,

Hey...I know TWU has a nursing school in Dallas...it's supposed to be really good - they actually get a little more attention than the Houston campus, so if you are looking, you might want to check them out. Everyone I have met there is very nice, and there is a lot of pride in the TWU students.

Specializes in School Nursing, Ambulatory Care, etc..

Howdy!

I was born and raised in San Antonio, married the Army - I mean my husband who is in the Army - and was moved to...ya'll ready for this...San Angelo! I started the ADN program at ASU in June and (the Good Lord willing and the creak don't rise) I'll start clinicals in the fall!
