I just finished up my pre-reqs this summer and now I have the entire fall semester off of classes. I will also be having knee surgery which is going to give me a lot of time to read. I was wondering for those of you who are in your first year of NS, is there anything I can read/review that will semi-prepare me for entering the nursing classes? Might as well read something that will help me later on rather than just reading trashy novels! ;) Thanks!

have you already had A&P? if not you could start reading that. Other wise you might just want to get your fundamental book and start reading. :) Careful though...you never know when they will change the textbook author or edition.

Yep A&P I & II are completed. I am going to review that book as well as my patho book to keep my body systems memorized. My friend has a fundamentals book that she said I could borrow. I just dont want to end up confusing myself!

It wouldn't hurt to review medical terminology. You can get a book or flashcards for a reasonable price at most book stores.

Good luck with your surgery! Enjoy the quiet time before NS starts ;)

My best advice is to go over Physiology. I noticed in my first semester I was one of the few students in class that had a firm grasp of physio. Also if you can get your hand on a fluid and electrolyte book I would recommend going over that. I know that was the hardest part of first semester for me, because there is so much info on F&E on very little time to master it during the semester.
