What are the most important things i need to review about Anatomy and Physiology..

Its difficult to nail down specific things to review about A&P due to the wide variety of topics covered. Anatomy is just that and it involves a lot of rote memorization, not really a lot of ways around it. The biggest thing that helps many students is to scour the web for mnemonics to help memorization. Flashcards and coloring books were popular with my class.

I personally felt physiology was the easier part. My only advice is to try and "connect the pieces". While your studying take a step back and see how everything fits into the larger picture. For example don't just memorize what part of the renal tubal adsorbs what, but try and ask yourself why its important to know why the renal tubal works. This is the fun part of nursing. Really pay attention on fluid and lytes. Despite what everyone says it is NOT that hard. It the basic law of disfusion and balancing of charges. A solid understanding of fluid and lyte balance will carry you a LONG way through Med Surge, really focus on this part in A&P.

To get ready pic up an anatomy coloring book (sounds funny, but its great, required homework in my class!!) and make some flashcards over the summer. Read up on fluid and lytes, a strong understanding will help really understand how all the systems work together.

The most important thing about A&P?

I would have to say learn it well and give it your all, because there isn't enough time in nursing school for more than a quick refresher when tackling the copious reading.

They assume you know it and you'll have more important (or at least different) priorities that need your immediate attention.

For review, I would have loved to have had a better grasp of biology on a cellular level entering A&P.

I did the same thing just to see what I was getting into. As a matter of fact, that's how I found allnurses.com.

If you're really motivated and want something to do, get a book on introduction to chemistry (if that's an area you don't have much experience in) and study up on cell biology. You'll thank me when you get to the Krebs cycle and fluids & electrolytes.

No heavy chem! And that was only if your experience was limited like my own. Good luck and I know you will succeed!
