What is a school's PROVISIONAL ACCREDITATION?

The school I am applying to for my BSN is a regionally accredited school.

Their Nursing Program is accredited by CCNE.

They also have Provisional Accreditation by the state's BON.

What in the world does that mean?!?

contact the BoN to find out the specifics.. but in general I have mostly seen this in 2 situations.. 1st for a new program, they are usually given provisional status for a certain period of time until specific goals are met at which time they get full certification.. and 2nd whenever a program is doing very poorly, they are bumped down to provisional status either until they get their act together and clear their name or lose accreditation all together.

Thanks, 203bravo!

I think their nursing program is new, but I will double check with the BON.

Thanks!
