I am shadowing at the Jail tomorrow for a Multi Cultural project and we are not allowed to wear our scrubs for that and the 4th semester students that picked the jail for their focused clinical can not wear them their either. I am not sure if our psych rotations are different, I think we do that in 3rd semester.

When I had my psych rotation in school, we were told business casual, and the more conservative the better. No jeans, no skirts, no open-toed shoes, no low necklines or tight clothing, no large jewelry, etc.

Most of the students that come through my workplace for their psych rotations follow the same dress code--that conservative business casual. Alternatively, some schools make their students wear a polo shirt with their school logo on it and slacks.

Our uniforms aren't too bad. We have hunter green pants, white v-neck scrub top with our name embroidered on the left side as well as our school logo embroidered on the left sleeve. We also have hunter green warm-up jackets with the same embroidery. Our shoes have to be mostly white. As far as socks and undies...they are pretty relaxed about them. As long as the undies don't show through you are good to go and for the socks it's pretty much what ever you want.

Our school uniform is the ugliest thing ever. It's white with a blue stripes around the sleeves, has a peter pan collar and zippers up the back. Whoever was smart bought the guy's version which is nowhere near as ugly and zips up the front. Fortunately we dont' have to wear it most of the time (except that we didn't know that initially and threw away a lot of money on it since it costs about 4x more than a regular scrub top).

I'm in my psych rotation now and it's professional dress...which is basically what they call business casual (nice slacks or khakis, and a conservative top...no jeans, sneakers, or revealing anything).

SJSU's nursing student uniform is navy scrub top and bottom, any brand. We don't have any patches or personalization. I really like the navy, and I picked out some Dickies that were 1) cheap and 2) flattering. When my mom saw me wearing them for the first time she was like "Oh you look like a real nurse!"

We wear them for skills lab too, though I'm going to buy a second set so that I'm not wearing my clinical scrubs in skills.

The guys wear white tunics (with the purple shoulder tabs/epulets)and black trousers-But i will admit that i do like the epulets as its clear to see what year we are in, that picture was taken in my first year, ive got one stripe on my eps, at the end of each year you hand in your eps and get another stripe sewn on and no other workers in the hospital wear white/purple so we are very easily identified.

Although the new students get to wear white tunics and black trousers but they dont have eps so it is impossible to tell what year they are in which has caused some problems on the wards. They also have to wear their uniforms to class (which i dont agree with at all)

Since I'm not in yet (finger's crossed), I went to the handbook and found out ours are black, with a gold or white t-shirt under it (if you want). When we go in to get patient assignments we have to wear a black polo shirt with the logo and Khaki pants or knee-length skirt. Whew - it could be (MUCH) worse!
