What are my chances of getting into an RN program in Southern California?

I have a cumulative gpa of 3.55, science pre requisites of 4.0 (chem, anatomy, physio, and microbiology), AP English credit, and a first attempt TEAS score of 78.7 (no, i didn't study at all for it. i just took it once to see how it was). I'm going to be applying to pretty much all the ADN - RN programs in Los angeles county, including GCC, PCC, LACC, etc.

Distance isnt really an issue, so long as the school is, at max, an hour away from my home, which is in glendale.

Do my chances look good, or is the TEAS score too low?

Your science GPA is awesome! Great work! You never know you might be accepted even with the low TEAS score. It all depends on who else applies. You should look into which schools will accept a second TEAS score and then decide whether to take it again or not. Make sure to study this time.

Hi there, did you take teas V. Or Vl? If you took V you can take the Vl and it won't count as s second attempt on a year. You can most definitely get into an ADN in so cal with what you have. All the colleges here are on a scoring system out of 100 and the higher your score will determine if you get in. Many times there is a threshold to be guaranteed a spot. Most of the time that number is somewhere around 70 points maybe more maybe less One thing you will need to look into is work experience, all the colleges weigh it differently but they all take it into consideration. Most require 1000 hours in direct patient care as a CNA/EMT or some other tech position. This usually counts for a big chunk of points. Do you work? Have you liked at any program requirements? You can find all this info out on the college website.

Hi I took the teas 6, and yes I'm doing a CNA winter course. Hopefully I can find a job as a CNA after February, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to accumulate 1000 hours before the application period. Anyways, I'm hesitant on retaking the teas. Should I or should I not? Earliest available teas date is Feb 25

I was accepted into an RN program at a city college with a VERY similar GPA and TEAS score. Best of luck!

It would not matter if you took the teas again, the socal Cc's only take the first attempt or they will only acknowledge the first attempt per 365 days. It sounds like you have sold numbers to get in. Just keep applying and you will get in somewhere. There are tons of ccs in socal that have nursing programs. Best of luck to you.
