Our semester is starting next week, and I just wanted to say, to all the incoming students: WELCOME!

There will be roller coaster ups and downs, wow moments, tears, frustration, excitement, bewilderment, and "how the heck am I supposed to learn ALL of that in 15 short weeks!"

True friends will stick by you even if they never really get just how much time you have to spend studying, and in the end it will all be worth it. Kids are useful for practicing on, and may even love getting to "help mom/dad study!". If you can change sheets under a squirmy toddler, you're ahead of the game.

It will take absolutely forever to get through this first semester, but in no time at all you'll be doing your NCLEX. Stay focused, organized, write out all your due dates for assignments and papers on a big calendar at the beginning so nothing can "sneak up on you". Let the kids help you by crossing things off, extra ice cream if done 2 days early!!

Just remember, we've been there, it is doable, and come enjoy the journey!

Its a great thing to see so many supporters, whether it be other students, recent grads, or even seasoned RNs. I just started my classes and i'm doing everything you just listed. I'm worried that I just wont get the information, the program i'm in only accepts 50 students and 250 applied so I keep telling myself theres a reason I was chosen. But we shall see... Thanks for the pep talk to all of us newbies!
