Weasel survives

  1. Well my first day of nursing school was interesting! We only had 1 class today, 2 hours long. It's a distance learning course where we've got the big TV screen and microphones and we interact with another class (maybe 2) at another location. We're all self conscious & shy, nobody wants to get on the microphones and answer questions, let alone be on the TV, lol. It seems to be a new experience for most if not all of us.

I'm hopeful that the following improves as class goes on. We were explicitly instructed at orientation to READ AHEAD. We are to be prepared to discuss / learn with that information already in our heads. I got to class and discovered that the teacher only gave an overview of what we read!!!!! *****?? I can READ on my OWN. Goodness. I hope this is just a "first class, getting used to each other" issue which will soon be resolved. I come to class to LEARN.

Tomorrow will be a BIG DAY. School is an hour from home so I probably won't go home between, which makes for a long day.

I know there are more first-day people here, where are ya? How'd it go? What did you think???

weasel, hope you have a better day tomorrow with your expectation of your classes.

the class interaction with other classes sounds interesting. is this daily, weekly, or etc?

be safe as you travel the distance to and from school.

look forward to hearing about classes tomorrow.

Hi Weasle. Glad you made it through. I had a somewhat similar school schedule last semester with a 3 hour break between day/night classes twice a week. I hung out in the library and did homework. That was a tough semester, ggod luck.

My classes are all internet this semester, last night we met with our professor so we could be oriented to how she wants things done. The reading assignments are incredible.Im really going to have to discipline myself to get through this, self motivation and all.Keep us posted.

Congrats on getting through your first day, Weasel! That TV thing with the other class would give me the willies, but I'm sure you'll get used to it.

In all the classes I've ever taken in college, pre-reqs, etc, the teachers tell us to read ahead, and I've never done it because there is no point. But maybe the subsequent semesters will be more challenging. Hey--I wouldn't complain though! My roommate took pathophysiology last semester and said it was HARD.

    good luck!

I hope it gets better also. I don't think I would be too happy about how the class was handled either.

I was in a TV class as well, but my teacher did not make us be on TV if we didn't want to be.

Good look with your labs and the rest of the semester. I start class next Monday (20th) I am still doing pre-req so I don't think it will be too interesting.
