Vent: About a scholarship

I found out earlier today that I didn't win a scholarship. I must admit that I'm bummed because I figured my story of my upcoming first child, single family income, and the fact that I have had to fight hard to get this grad program back into the school would have convinced the panel to throw a couple bucks my way. However, I'm really not posting because I lost; I'm venting because the individuals who won didn't deserve to win. I know I sound like this is totally sour grapes, but I promise it isn't...completely.

There are several "minimum criteria" including an application, essay and "Build out a robust profile (my profile)". The unfortunate thing is that 4 out of the 5 recipients did nothing to their profile. So my complaints are objective, not subjective. I understand the donors can do with their money as they please, but I still really want to write them and complain--I feel it'd just be too inappropriate (unless someone can convince me otherwise; I'm all about rationalizing my bad behavior :saint:). But still...it's a shame these kids (most are HS students) are getting $2500 free and they didn't even meet the "minimum criteria" set forth by the donors.

I've asked before because "I ain't too proud to beg" but I'm accepting donations. :plsebeg:

Ever hear of the good-ole-boy network?? It means its not what you know its who you know. And sometimes that means breaking all the rules, meeting none of the criteria and still getting the prize.

Frustrating? you bet!

Unfortunately, that's the way of the world sometimes. Hold your head high and don't write the letter. Or, write it and then trash it. YOu might find it cathartic.

Sorry you didn't get the scholarship. You sound very deserving and I'm sure there's another one out there that selects their recipients based on stated selection criteria. :)
