does anyone here what kind of vaccine should the nursing students have? I'm planning to have immunization booster or something before I reach 3rd yr BSN... tnx a lot!:nurse:

I recommend, even if your school doesn't require it, to get the hepatits B vaccine. I went ahead and got the Hepatits A and B which they put together in an injection. It takes 6mths to complete and it is a series of 3 injections. I hope this helps.

I had to get Hep B, which is a series of 3 doses, tb, and a tetnus shot. My arm sore and feverish for a week!!!! I hate to think about that second dose coming up in two weeks!!!

I had to get the Hep B series and I needed an MMR booster. We're not required to get the Flu shot - but I have since I have been in college and didn't get the Flu until this year. But well...I won't get into Flu shots for the 07/08 season. ;)

My school requires hep, chicken pox, MMR w/ booster or titer, tetorifice, a form physical, ua, hemocrit, polio, tb test

As you can see from the previous posts there is a lot of variation regarding what may be required for each program. The nursing program administration will direct you regarding what you will specifically need for the program you are planning to pursue. Often, programs will require that a pre-entrance health form be completed by your primary care physician and this will list everything you need.

In my case, I needed titers for Varicella and Hep B. I already had my MMR series when I was younger. They also require a TB PPD within 90 days of the program start.
