Useless extra credit ....

My nursing program offers extra credit but it seems quite useless. It only effects your grade after you pass all of your exams with an 80% or higher... anything below that is failing. So I wonder what the point is of doing it? I do it anyways, except for the mobile nursing projects unless I have the time, but it doesn't matter. I only cared about getting A's so I could get into nursing school... now I just want to pass, lol. Does anyone else have this in their program, if so... whats the point? What does your GPA matter? I am in a community college... could a better GPA be important if you want to transer to a university one day?

We don't have any extra credit period in any nursing classes and our nursing program told the Co Req class teachers no to do extra credit either.

Apparently, it's a GPA booster at your school for people whose academic skills aren't atrocious. Your GPA will likely matter when future employers are comparing you to new grads and/or when you apply to graduate schools.

Hmm, I'd like it if my professors did that. I'm making a B, but I'd love an A. I know it's just a C to pass, but A's make me feel good. A little extra credit to fluff up my feathers a little after I've shown that I do know enough to pass would be nice. But then, I sent an appreciative note to my professor and he sent an encouraging note back, which fluffed my feathers probably just about as much as extra credit or an A would, so I'm happy anyway.
