University of Phoenix-math question-PLEASE ADVISE!

Hi everyone,

I have completed all my pre-reqs for an ADN but, I still need intermediate ALG and STAT to be able to apply for a BSN at a local school where I live. Have any of you heard of this on-line university? I just want to make sure they are not like a Devry college where they are called college but none of their credits transfer. The classes are each five weeks long and totally online. I have emailed my advisor but you know how long they can take to resond. I don't want to get myself too excited but this would save me HOURS of time if I could get these classes finished online.

If not this school, has anyone taken these (intermed alg and stat )online? What about online classes in general? Good idea or not for something like this? I am an A student and can manage time well but with 3 kids, it would be so nice to do this fast and in my pjs at night while they are in bed!

Any information would help me so thanks in advance!

to start off... No, Univ of Phoenix is not like Devry, Devry actually has physical campuses, UoP does not.

It is incorrect to say that you cannot transfer any of your credits from Devry, but many do not transfer. Something like math, English, or psychology should transfer to another school. I would verify with your advisor just to make sure that they will accept credits from UoP, many colleges don't like credits from online-only schools and would gladly take them from Devry or similar institutions.

I personally do not like UoP or their practices, so take my opinions with a grain of salt.

Actually, The University of Phoenix does have a campus in Phoenix Arizona. I have a friend who lives in Arizona and just reveived her bachelors degree in business from there. UOP is a fully accredited school and all of your credits will transfer.

I didn't count them all, but as you can see from the link, the UOP have campus locations in all/most states. They are fully accredited, albeit expensive!

I live in AZ, we do have U of P campuses with real live classes, as well as online classes.

As to your question about taking alg and stats online. I did, depending on the level of the class you need to take, you may be able to go through a community college (even online). This is significantly less expensive than U of P et al.

Hello MommaNurse2be,

Any time you want to know if credits will transfer, you should get that information directly from the school/schools you would be transferring those credits to and no where else. Your school or state may have an online transfer agreement you can access. Even then, I would verify that the information online is still accurate. Ifdealing with the school directly, I would get written proof which class/classes they will accept and what they will transfer in as.

I have taken about 5 or 6 online courses and I must say that I loved them! They can be a lot of work just like face-to-face learning. Some people think they might be the easy way out, but that is not always the case! If I were you, I would look around and see if other schools are offering what you need because if U of P credits will not transfer, maybe credits from somewhere else will. Every college I know of offers online courses now.

My school does not accept the classes so I will just take Math in the Fall. I appreciate the replies.
