We have to buy a lab coat & a polo. Will I be wearing the lab coat at every clinical? I was wondering if I should buy 2 of each, but if i wear the lab coat, the dark green polo I have should be ok. Any advise. They are both pricy, so I want the minimum.

Thanks:)

We never wore the lab coat during clinical - it was more for pre-planning, when we went onto the unit to go over our patients' charts the day before. It identified us (rather than have the staff wonder who those strange people were in street clothes, flipping through charts). We also wore them when leaving the floor/unit in some areas - like for lunch breaks. I would not think you would need more than one lab coat, but your school may do things differently.

Good luck with school.

The CC in my state requires uniforms from NANCO a private mail order company. They cost a fortune!

We were required to buy the lab coat. We had to wear it when we went to preassess the day before, and also any other time we were at the hospital outside of our uniform.

My suggestion would be to try to talk to the instructors and see if it is really required.

We use NanCo too. I'm only buying one labcoat to start with. I figure that if it isn't sufficient, I'll order another one. I will be getting the very minimum.

We used NANCO as well. They DO charge a fortune! I would get just one lab coat. You won't be wearing it all the time, and shouldn't need to wash it each time b/c it'll be more like your jacket. You can always get another later. Isn't it exciting getting ready??
