Typical Day

Nursing Students General Students

I'm wondering what is a typical nursing students day is like? I have a 8-4 job. Just currious if I will be able to work part time at my current position.

Thanks.

no such thing as typical... when are your classes... when are your clinicals... I went to night school and had clinicals (for the most part) on the weekends so I could continue to work.

Like the above poster, I chose an evening/weekend program for that reason. I worked full time 8-4 at my job Monday to Friday. Classes were 1-3 times per week from 5:30 to 9:30, and clinical was every other weekend from 7 to 3:30. It was manageable but very difficult. My job was flexible and often let me take time off with short notice, and I did homework during work downtime. So it does depend on what your job entails. I'd say most traditional BSN programs at universities have classes during weekday mornings/afternoons with clinical on weekdays. Adult second-degree or ASN programs seem to be more flexible, but definitely check with your individual program because they're all different!
