Jul 29, '04When I first started my nursing school application process, I heard several remarks like "Why not just be a doctor?" "We're proud of you, but you're so smart, you don't have to settle with being a nurse...", stuff like that. It kind of took the wind out of my sails a little, because I was really proud of the decision I had made. What is the saddest thing, is that I started to think maybe they were right...maybe nursing wasn't a "good enough" profession to go into. Of course, I've got my head on straight now, and know that nursing school is what I should be doing--I need to be in a position where I have one on one contact with patients. I could go into other aspects of the medical field, but I don't know if I would be able to have the type of relationship with patients that I'm seeking.
Don't let people get you down...nursing is such a noble field & we should be extremely proud of what we're doing!!
