Maybe your teacher will catch them soon then

Isn't it so sad that there are so many stories involving this kind of thing? I would think that people entering a field such as nursing would have a lower rate of cheating.

Fortuneately I haven't come across anyone in my classes that cheats.I can't believe that some teachers would actually look the other way than do their job.I actually feel sorry for these people that cheat, because sooner or later its going to catch up with them, and they will need to know whatever they cheated on ,and they won't know the info they need and will be in be trouble.

I 've always wanted to be a nurse since I was six years old ,but didn't have the courage to go to college untill now because I sucked at science and math in high school.Yes I'll probably have a hard time, but I'd rather fail and have to take the class over and know what I'm doing than to cheat. Will it be hard for me yes,but I'm determined to make it.

It sounds like to me these people really don't want to be nurses in my opinion, because if they did ,then they would care enough not to cheat.

I have a little note for you cheaters out there (allthough you'll probably never see this)If your having such a hard time in a science class, math class or what ever, there are these people that are called tutors. So if you need help get a tutor and stop cheating from the people that are busting their butts off.If you think that you have it made just because you passed a test and will be a great nurse, because you got an easy A you are sadly mistaken.Plus your just setting your self up to fail clinicals and the NCLEX.

Somebody who is cheating is can be in practice a good nurse
somebody who cheated never can be a worse nurse in practice
btw, better schools take care that it's not possible!

    Ren,
    Good advice.

imo, any time or energy given to this problem is time and energy taken away from studies.
I've seen things go on in classes i've taken...and others might disagree, but i absolutely ignored it.
I've got too much riding to worry bout what others are doing to pass.
The actions of cheaters in class, may or may not come back to haunt them. Either way, i refuse waste valuable time thinking about it.

In my Critical Care course in nursing school, there was a student who cheated. It was well known to a few people, but as far as I know, not the instructor. As it turned out, she failed the state board exam. Cheaters don't really bother me.....they get what they deserve in the end.

Unfortunately, if the instructor's are grading on any type of curve, the one's that actually studied are the ones that suffer. Example....the cheaters get the highest grade of say....98, and the highest grade from the student who studies is 82....it can cause other students with a grade on the lower end of the curve to "fail". This should be taken care of immediately to preclude any good students from failing a course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I refuse to stand by and let other students cheat when I know it! I haven't worked this hard to get into nursing school just to have other people try to make the same grades as me and cheat! Once in my microbiology class there was this girl that never came to class and she was sitting next to be during the test and she was trying to cheat off of me. So I got up and told the teacher right then and there. The teacher got up and went and stood in front of the girls desk for the rest of the time that she was taking the test. So I would definately let it be known that there are people cheating. I would write letters and if my teacher didn't pay attention or take action, I would go above her head. I have the kind of attitude that it is my duty as a student to only encourage the best for myself and other students as well. What about the future patients that these nurses will be caring for?! COME ON!

    <snipped from see white rabbit's post.>

Different strokes for different folks i guess.

I'm sure your classmates appreciate your vigilance

I prefer to worry bout my own grades. Thats how i keep my GPA up there...

I'm pretty sure that the actions of cheaters will not bode them well come NCLEX time, which is good enough for me...
That's where the real weeding out is done (imo).

Well, I am not going to put so much energy into trying to control the actions of cheaters that it interferes with my own grades, but I am not going to look the other way all the time either.

Again, different strokes. You're doing what you feel is right for you to do, that's what is important.

This is something that is obviously bothering you and could cause you problems down the way due to your worry. Picking them out and turning them in isn't quite loyal, but neither is not saying anything. Someone wrote early in this posting to inform the instructors they need to pay a bit more attention during exams. I think that's a great idea. Let it go after that. Concentrate on you! Good luck!
