The dreaded panty line.......

I have to wear white pants for clinical and although I haven't purchased them yet, I suspect that since they are white you will probably be able to see through them.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to hide the appearance of your underwear underneath?

I once heard that if you wear nude or tan colored bras/underwear under white it blends in with your skin and is hardly noticeable.

I have also thought about wearing support hose too thinking that if they are white or nude it may make them less noticeable and may help with circulation too.

Let me know if you have any tips.

Walmart sells the no-see panty line panties three in a pack. I own some from Walmart and they work great. :D

I go with the granny beige or white myself -- our scrub top just above clears the hip, but Lord knows we're bending and twisting and reaching, so the look doesn't always remain as planned! Anyway, don't let it preoccupy you - you might give an older gentleman or a worried visitor a bright spot in their day!!

Are you allowed to wear a lab coat over your scrubs?

I, too, am totally in hysterics over this thread. Pure entertainment. My neighbor wears thongs and it's very obvious, whether or not you can see them through her overgarment: it's the jiggling, doncha know?

I'm very picky about my undergarments, and will delay an excursion to go and change them if they are bugging me in any way. Thongs would only make that part far worse. I see little girls in bathing suits and on the play ground pulling their panties out of their cracks, and wonder if those same little girls will be buying something that goes in their cracks at a later time. It's obviously not comfortable to have something in there if you are always trying to keep it out, so I'm really confused as to why people buy undies that go there on purpose.

BTW, my neighbor calls her thongs "butt floss." Pretty descriptive if you ask me. I floss my teeth, but don't leave the floss in. Same with my panties!

This has been good for a great laugh.

Does NOBODY go commando???? I always thought it unfair that men could do, but it was "unladylike" for women to occasionally go without. Well, there are days when it's just more comfortable, damn it. And yes, I have gone to clinicals commando. I am much more comfortable and you can't see a thing through my pants (I had my husband and best friend do a "check"). I do have a few pairs of flesh colored bikini underwear I got at WalMart and they work quite nicely. :lol2:

I think i've mentioned this before...

we work with a nurse who wears a G string so that it is actually slightly above the top of her scrubs. This is accompanied by a shirt of Tshirt clingy type . I'm hoping everyone has a visual that whenever she moves anywhere we are staring at the live and in color thong up to and including crouching down to empty foleys etc. The doctors can hardly form a sentence around her. I am purely heterosexual and i find myself starring. She is what one would consider fairly attractive and she has a great figure. when I look at her I think 'gee i wish i was in that great shape' . However, she also reminds me of someone who should be working in a greasy spoon with her name embrodiered on her dress with a pen in her hair giving the truck driver a little peak of cleavage when she pours him a refill.

As attractive as she is I personally feel that it looks kind of cheesy and i think her nurse manager should address this with her. I think she does it to get noticed and it is not an issue of comfort. Honestly, she does not need to wear a G string to be sexy.

I'm officially old, too. I just can't get into the thong thing. I mean, 5 minutes for my husband sure. But it has pretty much been my goal throughout life to locate panties of the non-wedgie persuasion. FYI, my Jockey string bikinis are the best I've found so far. Haven't had to wear those white scrubs yet so we'll see about that. I think the whole idea is to be as discrete as possible. If your body looks discrete and there's nothing to draw attention to your butt or underwear then no one will know what kind of underear you have on and it won't matter if it's granny, crammy, or commandy.

I have some thong wearing friends who say they wear them to avoid panty lines - which is ok except that if your pants are going to show a panty line, they will show it no matter what shape the material is so a thong isn't helping - everyone just sees that you have a thong instead of granny panties! I'm thinking the whole issue is more about buying the right size & thickness clothes. (I know scrubs can be a different thing since they are thin)

LOL I think you should go all out and wear *black* underwear and bra under those white scrubs! Maybe do a Madonna/nurse kinda thing....lol

I think the thong or nude color panties should work fine though.

Exactly!!!!Black underwear is the way to go. My mom taught me to wear a black bra under a white tee shirt when I was young and I always do. Wear black underwear under your white pants!!

One of my instructors was giving hints on how to dress and warned us to try and make sure nothing showed through.

She told us about three years ago one of the male students showed up with underpants that had yellow smiley faces all over them and you could see all of these smiley faces through his uniform pants.

The next year our school switched to navy blue uniforms so we don't have such a problem with things showing through.

Mitchsmom, I couldn't have said it better!!

Underwear is a personal choice, however, when you choose "unwisely" then it becomes everyone else's issue too, and this is the problem I have with thongs that are visible. I couldn't care less what underwear you choose - I just don't want to see it.

By the grace of God, I am not enrolled in a school that has white pants as part of the uniform - ours are navy blue.

Have a great day everyone!

We have white pants also for our clinicals and we were warned NOT to wear thongs. Anyway, there are undies out there that are called "seemless". I know Victoria's Secret and Gap have them and you really can't see anything. You can get white too! They are a little pricy but you can wear them with other things like khakies. Well, worth the $.
