Test of Essential Academic Skills?

Nursing Students General Students

Published

I posted this on the Pre-Nursing forum but haven't received any responses, thought I might have some feedback from current nursing students. Did anyone have to take this test, what was it like, etc.? I have to take it and haven't heard of it, I have heard of the Nurse Entrance Exam and the National League of Nursing RN preadmission test, but nothing on this one.

Any info would be appreciated. TIA!

Oh that wonderful TEAS test!! LOL!! I took it twice. The study guide is almost identical to the test. If you buy that and study it really well, you'll do great. The math test flies by so don't spend too much time on each question and don't fret too much about A&P. It's heavy into general biology and a few micro questions. I think there was only one or two chem. questions. The study guide is invaluable!! Your school bookstore will probably carry them or you could check out ATI's website. Good luck!!

Yep, I second that study guide. I also took it twice and after the using study guide, my score went up from 80s to 90s. I hadnt taken math for a LONG time and found that section the most challenging but after practice, practice, practice, it was fine.

ive never heard of this TEAS test...I had to take a nutrition placement exam since I never took it in undergrad and I had to take the GRE.

They use the TEAS test at teh University where I used to work in the BSN nursing dept. IT is only one of the factors that they (currently) base admission on, Right now, you don't have to take the math section here, but they're thinking about adding it down the road.

the teas test is really not that bad. the study guide looks like the teas test but the questions on the real test are much easier. basically read the questions carefully and use a bit of common sense picking your answers and you will just do fine. i took it the first time and was in the 99th percentile and made it into the program no problem. good luck!!!
