Tell me it can be done?

I just turned 27 years old, with 3 kids. Have been married to my husband for almost 7 years. Our kids are 6, 5, and 1. I just applied for an accelerated program last month. Now, I've gotten my bachelors with 2 kids (well, the last year of it...), but something tells me this will be much, much harder. Has anyone successfully completed an accelerated nursing program with multiple children? I'm pretty determined, but I'm also nervous. IF I even get in... I should stop getting ahead of myself.

It will be much, much harder.

It can be done.

You will need absolute partnership with your spouse, up to and including removing your children from your presence so you can do your school work (or understanding that you have to leave and get away from them).

You will need plan A, B, C and D for child care, particularly sick child care. Clinical hours generally are unforgiving, since the required hours are set by the state Board of Nursing as the minimum required to obtain your license. There is little forgiveness for missing clinicals in a regular program. In an accelerated one, there will be next to no ability to miss hours.

It is going to be hard. Very hard. But yes....it can be done. Plan and plan and plan and really discuss it with your spouse. If they aren't on board it will be nearly impossible. Meals. Cleaning. Child care. Date nights. Family time. Holidays. Sex. All of it will suffer until you are finished.

Op i could have wrote this post myself. I wish you success on your journey. Based on research i have done it will be very tough, but doable and worth it.

Yes you CAN do it! But organization is key. When I started my accelerated program, my children were 8, 7, 4 and 3. I will be honest and say that I could not have done it without the unwavering support of my husband. A lot of my study time was late at night after they were in bed and early mornings before they got up. It's not going to be easy but it will be worth it. Best of luck!
