I was wondering about some jobs I have seen at hospitals that are for nursing students. The hospitals in my area call it a Student Nursing Associate with the following job description:

"The Student Nurse Associate (SNA) is a member of the patient care delivery team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The SNA is assigned to work under the supervision of a registered nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and SNA skills and abilities. The SNA will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the registered nurse. Therefore, individual units, or service lines, may appropriately add to or delete from the duties defined in the Student Nurse Associated job description when approved by nursing administration."

Do any of you have any idea what they would pay for this type of position?

Thanks for any input?

This is in Michigan too (if you need to know) :)

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

Same pay as a CNA is our facility.

But not a lot of nurses are willing to put their license on the line to be an "educational experience".

Do you mean that the nurses that the PSNA is working with/under would be putting their license on the line? Wouldn't the student be the same as any other CNA or are they not certified as a CNA?

they were always called "Nurse Techs" here, I would include them in everything I did. If it was safe enough, I would let them do it with me. Most had finished their Junior year and were waiting for their LPN scores to coome back. Florida allows Senior nursing students to sit for the LPN exam if they approved their transcript.

Take the job!
