Nope, my student loans are not haunting me. In fact, I paid off the balance last month. It feels liberating, as if a ball and chain has been removed from my ankle.

Thankfully I went to a super cheap school and paid cash. Woohoo! :p At my age, not worth it to take out a pile o' loans.

Deferment here....still in school, as the handle suggests: BSN in the works. Check back at the end of August when my capstone ends...hopefully by then, my ship will have sailed, a windfall will land in my lap, maybe will have collecting lottery winnings (provided I actually go play), oh, and let's not forget marrying that rich man. With all these options, there is still hope.:D

Working OT like a madman. Hoping to pay off the private one in 2 to 3 years. The federal consolidation one planning on doing the public service forgiveness in 2023...lol right around the corner!

This is exactly why I'm getting my ADN at a community college fist so that , hopefully, I can get my local hospital (who is trying to go magnet) to pay for me to continue my education at the university.

I finally get the student loan monkey off my back in Spring 2016! I resent how many times my student loan was bought out from under me with no say in the next lender, most recently the evil Sallie Mae has taken over my loans. While so far I have had no major problems with them, I've read of others not so fortunate. My loans are consolidated and I tried to pay extra, before I could specify extra to the unsubsidized loan, but Sallie Mae refuses to do this. Luckily I will soon be rid of them! Why can lenders buy and sell our loans and we can only refi our loans once. If I had enough equity I would pay off the loan sooner and take out a home equity loan, but the housing crash has affected my home's worth. I should have almost $50,000 in equity, but I have virtually none thanks to the housing crash! It sucks!

I am due to start paying mine off in January. I chose the 10 year repayment plan, to get it paid off faster. Any tips? My goal is to pay my loans off in 2-3 years. Hmm....lofty goal, yes, but I think it can be done!

I had a $12,700 balance that went into repayment status in October 2010 and I paid it off in October 2013, so mine were paid within three years.

I had two loans: a subsidized one for about $4,700 and an unsubsidized loan for about $8,000. I paid off the smaller amount first by sending in $100 per month instead of the $50 payment. I then knocked the larger one out by paying $600 per month instead of the $122 payment.

there was an article last week that student loan dept turned a profit last year. spent all year battling prostate cancer and trying to work. took tax return. Had surgery that went bad. Currenting under cancer radiation tx and they went after payroll deduction to collect. I could appeal but that takes 2-3 months. they are unreal.

I am working while going to school so that I can pay cash. So far it has worked....hopefully I wont have to take out any loans. I hate debt!

My loan was in the form of a 2nd mortgage. Still need a couple more years of OT to pay it off.
