Stressed Out!!!Help

  1. Im soo stressed out.. This school that Im going to is just not right ! not right at all. I gave them my Transcripts from the community college. I had already taken A&P I & II... They told me that I wouldnt have to take it again. So I was able to get out of the class... Now they are tell me that I have to take a Exam with the others... I dont think its right.. I paid my dues I didnt my work and Passed both of my A&P classes at the community College. And for some reason ITs still not good enough for this school!!! Its not like Ive taken them Years ago I just finished A&P II a couple of months ago... The instructor for A&P in nursing school Says to me Well they dont teach A&P at the community college Like I teach I relate it to clinical illness etc etc... So I think you will be putting yourself in trouble especially when you get to med Surg.. I have soo much pressure on me I dont know what to do. Its like my credits mean nothing from the Community college.. MY professor taught us very well. He is a DR... She (lpn INstructor) iS NOT!!!! what should I do.. 1. I feel like I should take the Exam to prove a point and the other side says you didnt this already you past you got your 8credits so why bother with the B.S.

    Can someone help me..

I wish I had some good advice, I don't. I just wanted to extend my sympathy. That is a rotten position to be put into. Good luck and please let us know what you choose to do.

If your credits were accepted, that means the class was accepted by the nursing school. Go to your director with this problem immediately. You do not need the added stress that this instructor is causing!

Some of the community colleges in my area teach A&P 1 and 11. The university that I attend teaches anatomy in a class all by itself which is 4 credits with a lab, as well as physiology with a lab for 4 credits in a class by itself. They will also not accept A&P 1 and 11 from the community colleges. This is a bummer I know, but your school isn't the only one doing it.

well thanks everyone but let me just say.. This LPN program that Im in is Funded by the state.. If you really want to know ITs a Ghetto LPN program.. Not enough supplies. etc, etc.etc.. So There should be no reason not to take my A&P courses from the community college that I went to .. All the other colleges take them.. This school isnt even that high in ranking... I dont like this program and I dont like the way it running.. but do I leave or just stick it out... To mean it seems as though they want me to to prove something to them.. Oh well.

Guess you will have to use your gut feeling on this one. If it was me....my gut feeling would be to talk with some of the other colleges that would accept the transfer credits without hassle. Also, if this school isn't really that good, you may want to check out some of the other colleges anyway.......

I agree that it stinks! I hated A&P and the thought of having to do that all over again just makes me cringe!
However, it will probably help you in the long run. I can't tell you how many times I wished I had paid more attention/studied harder when I had both of my A&P's. I failed my Med-Surg class, and had to take it over again. I still can't remember how blood travels through the heart...(Right sided/left sided heart failure- URGH!)

Maybe you can think of it as a blessing in disguise. When I failed my Med-Surg class, I thought the world was over. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me....long story but the events that unfolded afterwards made everything clear as to why I had to take the class over again.

Now I am officially an RN as of last tuesday. Hang in there. There may be some reason larger than you are aware of that is making you take these classes over again (get deep with me here...)

That LPN may just have something to teach you, or better yet, a connection that you may need later on. Good luck and study well.

YUCK!! I would HATE taking A&P over again too!!
It was a year from LIVING HELL for us. Our Dr teach is known through out the state as the toughest instructor. Thrives on failure. If she gets to many good grades then OBVIOUSLY it was to easy and she makes it more difficult on the class the following year... HELLLLLLLLLL

FIGHT THIS.... The worst that can happen is the college agrees and makes you retake it!

Sorry about your predicament. Here's my two cents worth of advice. If you try to get into another program that accepts your completed A&P pre-reqs from your CC college, keep in mind that there are big waiting lists for the nursing programs right now in most areas. If you apply at another program you might not get in right away, so........ On the other hand if you decide to stick to the program you applied to, since you have had A&P already, the second time around should be a lot easier then the first time you took it. I would try to go higher up and talk to the Dean of the nursing program and see if you can talk he, or she, into accepting your credits first. If not, then If(a lot of ifs in this situation)there are other programs in your area willing to accept you within a reasonable space of time, I would transfer. Otherwise retake the class since you have been accepted into their program already. Second time around will be easier for you and you will be stronger in A&P, which will make you have a better foundation for nursing. As with everything thing, a strong foundation is the key.(Sorry to sound corny, but this is one way to look at it) Good luck. B.T.H
