Ok..so I start my last year of nursing school tomoroww and my stomach won't stop doing flips. I was excited and happy when we got out in May for the summer. I took several trips, worked and spent time with my family but now the night before school starts I can't sleep and all I can think about is what if I don't make it. What if I fail out the first day back. (We have skills check offs on NG tube, Sq, IM and IV piggyback and vital signs.) Granted I completed all of these skills (and then some) during clinical. We also start gerontology this semester and I tend to be a little clumsy around older people. (Why? I have no clue) Hopefully these butterflies will go away we I see my study group tomorrow morning.

Anyone else feeling a little nervous?

I am nervous...I start nursing school full time tomorrow after quitting my full time career in business, letting my husband support me and starting college again after 9 yrs! Of course I am anxious and nervous too!

I cannot sleep either, I am thinking to myself I have to get up at 6am and here I am on the computer wide awake!! At least it is for a good cause.

Just think, you got through your first yr, you can defiantely get through your second yr! You are half way through. You know what to expect, you know what to do to get you where you need to be because you just did it the first year. You will be fine, just stick to your guns amd go get them!!

I'm starting my 2nd year of nursing school too, and it is also my last year in the program. I start school in a couple weeks.

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also nervous. I'm read to graduate and become a nurse, but at the same time clinicals are not really helpful. I dont really get to do if any hands on skills at all besides the basic vital signs, assessment, and medication administration with documentation. I'm not sure how prepared I will be as a nurse. That's why I need to get a job at the hospital to supplement my what I have learned and to do more hands on.

Also starting my second and last year of an ADN program. But unlike NurseBunky, we didn't have the summer off. We had to take pharmacology this summer, and I am the sort who takes one thing at a time. Really didn't think to much about Fall while doing it, but now that it's over am trying to get prepared for fall semester. I am not anxious from the standpoint of nervous, but more like I want to get this started and see what the last year holds for us all. Have the first day of school on Aug. 31, so going to work on my study guides for the fall semester in the hopes I will be much more prepared than i was last year at this time.

Goof Luck to all of you starting your last year, and to those of you who are just starting. It's gonna be an interesting year for all of us.

Starting my last year in two days! I'm a little nervous but we've been in school this summer and had two and 1/2 weeks off and it felt like forever. I'm sure a whole summer off feels insane. Cheers to us! We'll all have our best year yet!

I'm sure you will all do great! Look at it as a challenge, not something to be afraid of.

I start back my 2nd and FINAL year on the 22nd. I'm both excited and nervous. I externed over the summer so I think that will help me clinically. I withdrew last fall from Med-Surg (had some family stuff going on) and it has been a year since I sat out. I'm afraid it is going to be hard picking this stuff back up again. Just the thought of doing a care plan gives me the :uhoh3:

I start my third of four semesters in a couple weeks. I am nervous, excited, anxious, dreading and looking forward to it all at once!I'm doing half semester maternal/newborn and the other half psych.

I have been working this summer as a tech, and I feel that my clinical skills in some areas are way better. Plus, my 'regular' job has summers off and I thought I'd go crazy with another summer with no work and no school. But now that school is coming I am facing changing my schedule all over again. I have been doing eves til 11 or 12 am and now I will be back to days, starting at 7 am! Yikes. I still have a couple weeks but I am trying to figure out now how to make the transition.

Mostly tho, I just want to jump in and get started. Just think, one year from now, we will all be nurses! :)

I start my final year in 2 weeks :w00t: I am not nervous or anxious. We were told by our instructors that the our final year is easier than our first year. Now we at least know what is expected of us. They will be a little more demanding on our physical assessment skills and pharmeceutical knowledge. But we will have less care plans, no more checkoffs, no more skills labs classes, and as I have already said we NOW know what is expected of us. So as I look at it nervousness doesn't really help. Let's be excited for our final challenge, rise to the occassion, and soon enough throw RN behind our names :yeah:

Good luck to everyone!

Missy,

I am in much of the same boat...no nursing experience, quit my office job to go to NS, no other job right now, husband supporting, AND I am not 100% sure of my choice!! (Aggghh!!! )

The anxiety is brutal. :uhoh21: I am trying to figure ways to deal that are healthy (no Xanax or ETOH). I don't really have any advice though. Just wanted you to know that I know how freaked you are and try to stay calm and GOOD LUCK.

BTW.........I started NS a couple months ago. So far, going OK, but I do have constant butterflies in my stomach when it comes to skills, check offs. We haven't done clinical yet but I am sure I will be like that there too...:chuckle

Study hard and try to remember...........everyone is nervous, no matter what they say!!!
