I just wanted to post to tell you all that 3 years ago when I started nursing school I was the same way. Every semester I would be excited to have one class done but so ready to start the next one. Until the last couple of semesters. Then I just wanted to be done. The time comes and goes so fast. One day I was a student at the college looking at all the nursing students walking in their scrubs and wishing so much I could be one. Then wishing so much I could be finishing my last class and graduating.

Enjoy your time as a student and try to soak up as much as you can. But also try to take time out for yourself also. Nursing school is hard and stressful! When you have a break even if it is just a small holiday break, try to do some things that make you happy. As nice as it sounds to get ahead on school work, it is possible to burn yourself out. My last semester I was so tired of being in school all the time and all the papers and clinicals and everything else I wondered if I would even make it through the semester. But I did and actually took my NCLEX-RN yesterday. Stopped at 75 questions. Hopefully I will find out tomorrow by quick results that I passed.

I am rambling. Anyway enjoy your time in school but taking time out for yourself is very important too. I wish you all the best of luck in your new endeavor!

"but could this be guilt from when I was in fourth grade and went into the neighbors unlocked garage to the refrigerator they kept there and ate a whole box of Krispy Kremes?)"

I wondered where those Krispy Kremes went to. The cops take theft of donuts a serious offense.

Darn it! I knew that would haunt me eventually! I felt so guilty after nabbing the donuts that I took their poodle to my house a few days later and gave him a haircut....... free of charge! It was hideous.

Thank you for some perspective! I need it! And AWESOME on your NCLEX, I'm sure you did great if it shut off at 75 questions!!!!

:lol2: I'm laughing because your post is hilarious, but I know exactly what you are saying. I start in the fall as well.

They (the school) said I would hear by such and such a date of my acceptance or rejection. The day came and went, and of course I was checking for that letter anxiously every single day. Then they said they were having some issues, so I would hear by another such and such a date. Finally I got my acceptance letter!

I did get all the info about the background check and immunizations and registering for classes, so I am done with all of that. All that is left is a drug test. I haven't been told anything about orientation, and, yeah, that worries me a little.

I think our problem with waiting is that, for us, this is one of the biggest ventures we've ever set out on, so right now we're just so wrapped up in all of it. For the school, though, this is a regular, routine process. Not that they don't care, but they aren't jumping up and down excitedly or biting their fingernails off anxiously like we are. They have their system, and they'll let us know what we are supposed to do when we're supposed to do it.

As for the dreams... I have a recurring nightmare of battling never-ending stoplights and getting to class super late only to find out it's test day and I didn't even know about it or study for it (I've had this same dream since I started college two years ago), so I'm with you on that one. :)

Good points all! Especially the reminder that this is just routine stuff for the school, they have tons of things to do to get their fall class ready so I just need a lesson in patience. Good luck to you!

But don't you need what they call a package code for Certified background?

Yes. Then it gives you the price. Mine was $102 for the background, drug test, and place to upload my documents.

Yep, and save a copy of EVERYTHING you submit to your school with the date, time and where/who you dropped it off/emailed it too and keep it handy. Hopefully your school is more organized and connected than mine was. :).

Congrats on getting In!! I also am waiting on a lot of information from my program. So far I know that our orientation is the Saturday before classes start, and I'm registered so I sort of know my schedule minus skills lab/clinical obligations, but all the "other" stuff needs to come soon! A little over 2 months to get everything accomplished, but some of that time is already blocked off to have some sort of a life and a little vacay time without worrying about things to do!

Congrats on getting in! I also did my share of mailbox stalking. We applied in early March and didn't find out until late May/early June. I still feel all crazy because there is a lot to do.. Have faith! We'll get it all done in time and everything will work out.

Congrats to you all! Sounds like many of us are in the same boat and the overwhelming anxiety and anticipation of future nurses could power a third world nation for years! People talk to me here at home, I'm like "Shh! Zip it! I'm checking my college email for the hundredth time today, I need to concentrate!" :angrybird10: Psssh..... nuthin'...... Oh well, maybe when my Fundamentals of Nursing book gets here I can at least concentrate on something else. Excuse me while I go check the post office box...... again. :brb:
