Hello! I am starting a thread for Sonoma State Fall 2015 applicants. I've started putting my information in to my Nursing CAS account and I will finish my application at the end of the month, after I take the TEAS. I'll update with my points at that time. However as long as I get a 90 or above I will have 76 points (without counting the essay points).

I'd love to hear from fellow Sonoma State applicants!

Hi there!

I'm also applying to Sonoma State for this fall.. Although I'm definitely not as qualified as you, I do not live in the area and will be missing out on those 15 points!

Good Luck!

Good luck to you as well! I'm a little nervous as I do not trust this Nursing CAS program. I hate having to trust a third party with all of my documents. They've already messed up one of my essays during the upload. They bumped the last line of my essay on to a second page and now they say they can't fix it. It looks completely unprofessional, not to mention that Sonoma State was very specific about the essay only being 1 page. I guess there is nothing that I can do about it now. I just hope I don't lose points for that They also say they haven't received my transcripts yet, so that's another issue. I hope your experience dealing with the application has been much better than mine!

The Nursing CAS Program is frustrating for me as well. When you entered "transcript" information, did you enter every single class, or only prerequisites?

The essay submission part is intimidating now! I'm sure they will understand your situation, though.

Technology is a necessary evil these days!

I entered every single class. In fact, I had to fix part of it after inputting all of the classes because I realized that some were out of sequence and they were specific about putting it exactly as it is shown on the transcript. As far as the essay issue- I hope they understand, especially since this is their first year using the system. It would just be horrible to work so hard to get to this point just to lose points on a technicality. Do your transcripts show as received and verified yet?

Where do I find that? When I go to Transcript Entry, it has a green line and check mark.. Am I in the wrong place? Sorry for the confusion!

You have to submit your application. After it is officially submitted you go to "Manage Programs" and "Program Status". NursingCAS says that you have to send the transcripts at least 4 weeks before the deadline, but I had my transcript mailed along with the Nursing CAS form that is supposed to be sent with it 2 weeks ago, but still no verification.

I am so confused! I was under the assumption that we only had to enter our transcripts manually. Where does it instruct you to send in a transcript to NursingCAS and not Sonoma State?!

Also, did you attach the " the NursingCAS Transcript Request Form" to all of your transcripts?

I dislike the NursingCAS process very much!!

The video that is posted on the Sonoma State Nursing website has all of the info. I had transcripts from two colleges so I had to print out that transcript verification form for each of them. I sent the transcript verification forms to each college and they included the forms, along with the transcripts, to NursingCAS. NursingCAS will not accept transcripts from us. They have to be sent directly from the schools that you have attended. I believe the only two things that you send to Sonoma are the $50 supplemental application fee and the TEAS transcript.

I found NursingCAS to be a total nightmare to navigate. I carefully filled in my entire application for SSU and it somehow was never "submitted" due to a glitch in the payment option. The problem was fixed with the help of the SSU nursing office, and now I'm waiting to hear back. I know there were at least 300 applicants to the pre-licensure BSN program this year. I am praying my stats (89% TEAS, 4.0 prereqs, 3.6 undergrad, local Sonoma County resident) will get me in. I did not think of mentioning my volunteer work or EMT certification in my essays (1 page each? It was really difficult to limit the essays to that). I am curious if my professional history as a medical malpractice investigator will help boost my desirability for the program.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I absolutely hated the NursingCAS process. It took them over a month to verify my transcripts and calculate my GPA. That glitch must be why they extended the deadline of NursingCAS. Your stats look good! I realized that my points will not be quite as high as I previously thought because SSU calculates ALL undergrad courses-including non-transferrable, remedial courses. I took some courses at the community college while in high school about 10 years ago and those course grades dropped my overall GPA. That's a lot of applicants considering prior years. Did they happen to tell you when decisions will be sent?

Hey guys! I applied to sonoma state as well! Best of luck to all of us! :)
