Somebody stop me!!

  1. I'm so excited about nursing school, that I'm buying all these "review" books on eBay that I won't need for a year or more. I just got a great deal, though, on Nclex Review - RN - Made Incredibly Easy. So it's a year old? How outdated can the info be? Plus the CD is unopened? Does anyone else detect a pattern here of me trying to justify these purchases? :chuckle

Maybe I just needed a "buddy" book for the Kaplan review I bought but can't put down.

The good thing of all of this though is.......I've made my decision about which nursing school I'm going to go to. I've decided on the Catholic one, where I got the big scholarship. It's day like I wanted - clinicals are on Tuesday from 7-3, lecture is Mon and Wed from 7-10:45. That will leave me two additional days to take a course to maintain full-time status so I can have the scholarship. It's a lot more money, even with the scholarship, but really what I think will suit me best. Plus I think this may be the push I need to find my spiritual side again.

OMG! You sound like me but I'm addicted to amazon.com I just bought a pharmacology book with a cd (still unopened). I won't have pharm for at least another year and that's even if I'm accepted. I do have all the nursing entrance exam books possible. Ooh, also I have several NCLEX RN stuff on my wish list, I just haven't pushed that "buy with one click button," for them yet!
I wish I could stop you, but someone needs to stop me first! :chuckle

Wonder if Lippencott has a 12 step program for this stuff?

Sometime in April the local college library is having a "Medical Book Sale". Most books are no more than 5 bucks for a 150 dollar book. Guess who's going to be by the door at 8 am that morning?

You are not alone! I belong to a Nursing Book Club and have already spent about $400 on books that I dont understand yet! lol

I figure most of it cant get outdated that quickly!

    Enjoy them! I do!
What about setting up a book swap? Could you do that with your friends/fellow students?

Go figure - I'm doing the same thing. I have ordered a ton of books from Ebay. I am so worried about doing poorly that I am reading them now so I don't fall behind. I always have the fear that I won't know enough so I just keep buying more. Glad to know I'm not alone

I have quite a library already -- ebay and Amazon are the way to go!!

FutureNurse2005, I didn't know about a book club. Maybe I shouldn't find out about that!! Sounds dangerous!! (shh...Okay do tell!)

    I am addicted to Ebay......period!!!
However, the NCLEX books are good to have NOW!!! I have used mine clear through nursing school to study from. They have been extremely helpful. Not to mention the instructor takes some questions for tests from them.

About this...I used a NCLEX book that was two years old that I got from a used bookstore for 4.99...no cd. I just went through the whole book... seemed to work for me since I passed. Some people have a harder time studying, learn better from a lecture, or have test anxiety, so you have to do what works for you. A book that is a year or two old should work, depending on how you learn, especially for the basic concepts, IMHO.

Do you all know how relieved I am that there are others secretly collecting and reading books which they don't understand yet, but trying to absorb every little bit of information??? I was afraid I was the only one trying to build my own personal medical library. If I buy any more, I'm going to need a minor in Library Sciences to start cataloging them. :chuckle

We should all post our eBay ID's, so we aren't trying to outbid each other!! :roll
