I'm so excited about nursing school, that I'm buying all these "review" books on eBay that I won't need for a year or more. I just got a great deal, though, on Nclex Review - RN - Made Incredibly Easy. So it's a year old? How outdated can the info be? Plus the CD is unopened? Does anyone else detect a pattern here of me trying to justify these purchases? :chuckle

Maybe I just needed a "buddy" book for the Kaplan review I bought but can't put down. :)

The good thing of all of this though is.......I've made my decision about which nursing school I'm going to go to. I've decided on the Catholic one, where I got the big scholarship. It's day like I wanted - clinicals are on Tuesday from 7-3, lecture is Mon and Wed from 7-10:45. That will leave me two additional days to take a course to maintain full-time status so I can have the scholarship. It's a lot more money, even with the scholarship, but really what I think will suit me best. Plus I think this may be the push I need to find my spiritual side again. :)

My husband is going to kill me. I just got another book off of eBay, about taking the NCLEX, which I'm not even taking for another 2 years! LOL

It was a good deal though. The CD isn't even used! I was up WAY too late last night reading it though! :chuckle

I Can't Believe This. There Are More Like Me. I Am Addicted To Amazon.com And I Can't Stop. I Already Have The Nclex Review Book (i Haven't Even Started School Yet!!! I Wonder If We'll Still Have This Pep Once We Are In The School Itself.

Goodness, I still hope we do!! I can't imagine looking a huge pile of books I spent mega $$$'s on, wondering "What was I thinking?!?!" :rotfl:

Ugh.....

TRUST ME-

Once you start nursing school..... you'll get tired of the books! I just had to buy two more...... with my LAST $102.00 !!!

And try having to actually READ 7+ chapters in one of those books in ONE weeks time (with 5+ more the NEXT week, and the week after that.......)

Not tryin' to scare ya.... just remember to pace yourself! SAVE your money because nursing school is NOT CHEAP!

Good luck! Keep that infectious enthusiasm!!

:wink2:

I have a ton of books too. The ones I find most helpful are the Memory Notebooks for Nursing 1 & 2. A lot of stuff from med-surg is covered in there. I also have all the Made Incredibly Easy info on discs. It helps for test review. I am looking forward to graduation so I can resell all this stuff on Ebay. :)

Hmmm...I never heard of these. I'll have to check them out!

Thanks!

HI! I am in my first semester and my instructor says that they are revamping the NCLEX effective in April, so you may want to hold off on the NCLEX books until they release the new info.

Just an FYI! Good Luck with school!

I had heard this too and I am watching a NCLEX review on ebay right now. I am still considering getting it because I was told it will be wonderful for reference DURING school and then I could get a new review when they come out.

Hmmmmm.......just don't know what to do?

I know the NCLEX is changing, but the basics of the questions won't be. That's really what I'm buying them for. They still give a lot of great information.

If you can get a good deal on eBay, I say do it. I've bought a few there now, for just a few $'s each, and can't believe all that I've learned already. The great thing is, I actually UNDERSTAND the stuff - it's making sense! I love being able to apply what I've learned in Human Bio and stuff to the info in the books. It makes me feel so gosh-durn smart! :chuckle

I had bought my NCLEX book because I heard that it will help me out with the TYPE of questions that they ask on test during school. I also heard that the NCLEX was changing. I heard that it was going to be more visual. Is this supposed to be harder or what?

I've heard that 1)it's going to be harder. 2) there will be, like you said, visual questions where you are shown, for example, a picture of a person's chest and you have to put an X on the picture for where you would place you stethescope to listen for certain sounds. and 3) that there will be multiple response questions, and you will have to mark all of the correct answers that apply to that question to get credit.

What my study group is doing is waiting until after April to see if new books come out (we don't graduate until August 2005 anyway) and then each of us will buy a different book, so that no one is out a bucket of money for study guides. But that only works if you have a GREAT group...which, we are so close, we practically share a brain.
