:biggringiCongrats to all of you with an externship/internship! I have a few questions. :balloons:

Those of you who have been offered positions on specialty floors outside of Med-Surge (ER, ICU, L&D, PACU etc.), did you already work in the hospital before getting the specialty floor? If so, do you know of student nurses with no clinical floor experience that managed to get a specialty floor externship/internship?

Those of you who are RNs who had externships/internships or who are preceptors, did/does your specialty floor accept externs/interns without prior hospital experience? If so, why? Thanks.

I will start L&D after graduation in May with a 6 month full time training program. I have had no prior hospital experience. I have one friend who will going directly to ICU and one into OR, at a different facility. They were offered 6-8 months training as well. Neither one of them have worked at hospitals before either.

I think you will find many opportunities for new grads!
