Sentara BSN 2018 applicants

Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I'm noticed there hasn't been a Sentara 2018 applicants post on here yet. I'm just curious if there's anyone else on this website who applied for the BSN program starting in January?

Best of luck!

Hi Alexandra! I applied to Sentara's BSN program last week. I am super nervous and hope my TEAS score is good enough. I have a 4.0 gpa but scored a 78.7 on the TEAS. I'm so glad you started this thread! Did you take your TEAS yet? I thought about retaking it, but I'm hoping my gpa will help me out. I hope other applicants post here so we can go thru this waiting process together .

Hey courtnicole, we have pretty a pretty similar score/GPA! I have a 4.0 as well but I scored an 80% on the TEAS last month. I'm retaking it on the 31st but I haven't been studying a lot due to work so I have no clue if or how much it'll increase. I'm terribly nervous because it seems like people are scoring higher due to the TEAS 6 version having a calculator and science that people actually learned in prerecs. I emailed Ana on Friday asking if she has noticed an increase but I'm not sure if she will be able to answer that without having all applicants scores in yet. I know an 85% was the average last year with a 3.8 GPA so I'm hoping it remains the same! Last year I read people who had as low as 3.6 with a high 70 get in so it's hard to say!

I'm so confused on it I should retake the TEAS! I am taking summer classes and have a toddler, so I'm trying to take these few weeks off from school to focus on my baby before I'm loaded up with school again. I have talked to a few people who are applying and they didn't score so well on the TEAS. I'm praying that my gpa gets me in í ½í¹í ¼í¿» I think we have a good shot with the scores we have now, but you never know. I scored high in science on my practice TEAS and found it harder on the actual test. I also saw that students got in last year with a 78 on the TEAS. Fingers crossed! Do you know any one else who is applying and what their scores have been?

Really? Everyone I have talked to or read about in online forums for the TEAS has scored in the high 70's or up, maybe a few people lower. So I thought my score was meh, but hopefully the average is still the same. I just moved here so I don't know anyone applying, but there's around 300 applicants and 100 spots from what the recruiter told me. What were your individual scores from each section? And what classes are you taking?

Reading 95.7%

Math 78.1%

Science 68.1%

English 75.0%

Combined score 78.7%

I really hope that 4.0 gpa helps out lol. I can't believe I scored so low in science. Anatomy has been one of my strengths, so I was shocked to see such a low score. I am taking Art History and U.S. History online over the summer. I have been taking my prerequisites at TNCC, which is a community college in Hampton. Do you still have to finish up some other classes as well?

Oh wow, how opposite! My scores were 91 in science, 80 in reading, 81 in math, and 66 in English. I studied so hard for English and had also done lots of math practice where I always scored in the 90's so it was shocking. Also I think everyone gets different science questions so it's hard if you studied one system more than another. I was ready for some hormone questions and only had 1, when my friend had 6 or 7 on hers. I also took organic chemistry so I have a good foundation in DNA, macromolecules, forces, structures, etc. which may have helped me out because I had some questions on those. Don't feel bad, I think it's a hit or a miss with whatever version you get. How did you do so well in English?!

I'm all finished with my classes, out of state tuition in VA is about $350 per credit unit compared to $44 in CA so I finished my A.A in liberal arts before I moved.

I didn't really study that much for English. My English 112 professor actually touched us up on some basics. I have heard that a lot of people have trouble in the English section. I was actually surprised with my score because some of the questions can have such similar answers. I was so upset with my Science score :( I literally covered some of the questions I missed right after I took the TEAS in my A&P 2 class. I think I am just going to stick it out with my score and pray for the best. I hope we both get in! It's nice to communicate with someone else who is in the same boat. It's hard to tell this year because the TEAS has changed from the 5 to the 6. If you scored 80% I am positive you will get higher your second go at it.

Hi everyone I am also applying to sentara for 2018. Although I already figure I'm not going to get in my teas scores aren't nearly as good I plan to take it again next week . I received a 94% in math 74% in reading and 55 in science and 54 in English . I'm not strong in science and everything I studied wasn't up there my gpa is also a 3.0 . I work at sentara hospital and a lot of nurses told me to score extremely high in the science section

Hey! The TEAS was hard for me as well, luckily I'm good in science but reading and English was not my strong point so I can relate! The science I studied was barely on the exam, it was mostly trying to recall things I had learned in my AP and chemistry classes about 2 years ago. Have you thought about retaking some prerecs and TEAS? It's pretty discouraging how competitive these programs are

Hello my name is Gabby. I'm also applying for The Sentara BSN program but I'm pretty sure I will not get in. I'm a recent graduate from VCU my GPA is about a 3.1 and I only got a 72% on my TEAs exam with my highest scores in Math, then reading and then science.
