I disagree.

The textbook and everywhere I've checked say that CF is recessive.

b is not correct because sodium and chloride are 2 to 5 times the normal range.

c sounds most correct

d is not correct because of the blocked pancreatic ducts, and without digestive enzymes fat, protein, and carbohydrates are poorly absorbed.

Which is the true statement?

And another question - this is True or False question:

Meconium ileus in the newborn is the earliest clinical manifestation of cystic fibrosis.

The manual answer is F.

But the textbook says "Meconium ileus in the neonate is the earliest clinical manifestation of CF."

You have to be careful with those manuals. I have found SOOO many questions that are wrong in study manuals.

You are right that CF is a recessive trait.

And meconium ileus is often the first sign of CF.

I agree about the stugy manuals being wrong sometimes. I don't know how many classes (not all nursing courses) that I've took and the answers were wrong. I had one professor that thought the study manuals were always right and you had to fight her with the information in the book to make her change her mind.

I should have also stated that I have never used a study manual while in nursing school. All of the study manuals that I have encountered with wrong answers were for other classes I have taken. The only "nursing" class that I used a study manual for was medical terminology. And that study manual typically had 20 - 30 wrong answers per chapter review. My professor actually called the publisher up to complain, and they immediately remedies the problem (apparently it was a new edition and a huge mix-up with the printing of the manuals).
