required nursing reference books?

  1. I have read posts about nursing students being required to carry around a lot of reference books. I know I will need to have a pharmacy reference and a medical dictionary. What else is required? Also would you recomend PDR or epocrates? I already have Taber's medical dictionary and am happy with that. Thanks for any suggestions.

I meant to type "around a" not "arounda". I guess I should have proof read better before hitting the submit reply button, huh?

Why not just click on the Edit button afterward? You can fix whatever went wrong the first time. Better yet, paste everything into MS Word to spell check and grammar check before sending the post.

I bought a lab test book (Nurse's Manual of Lab and Diagnostic tests, Bonita Morrow Cavanaugh), and a book about diseases (Handbook of Diseases, 2nd Edition, Springhouse) that I use all the time. I also have a Mosby's Medical Dictionary. I also bought a bunch of NCLEX books that I use for exams.

Other than that, depends on where your strengths and weaknesses are.

I bought a Nursing Diagnosis book to replace the required one that was absolutely no help. I think it was Carpenito.
