Is it true that there is a shortage of nurses or is it fake information spread from nursing schools ? Ohh I wonder?!?. Personally this is another business scam. What you guys think?

I'm as respectful as I can be. If I have offended anyone...I am sorry...the truth must come out. Why report me? I am the one that brings traffic into this site and you guys are the ones who are affiliated with the nursing schools.

If you truly believe there is a mass conspiracy of this forum being filled with dozens of paid posters trying to scam people into going to nursing school, please print our your comments and show them to a person you trust or a medical professional.

I actually say this with sincerity: hot mess aside, your posts are concerning with your persistent paranoia and delusions, not to mention that half truths or downright lies that you have portrayed of your own character aeb your previous posts on AN in regards to your schooling.

(Not even going to go into your rudeness)

You sound like you seriously need some professional help, more than any of us here on AN can provide.

Participating in any more of your threads/posts feels like I'm feeding your paranoia, something my professional and personal conscience just can't do.

Much luck to you. I have a feeling you need it.

Because you regularly violate the terms of service. Your "truth" is based on delusions of persecution. You are far from respectful. And given the million plus members on this site we were doing just fine before you came along. And no, I'm not affiliated with a nursing school. But I graduated from one. Did you?

Wait a minute...you are attacking me and not me atracking you ?!?. You input a comment and I input a comment and you guys affiliated fellas and always the same people attack me...hello...good morning.

Now you aren't even making sense.

That's ok, eventually you will get it. Anyways, I hope you guys give positive and constructive advice to current and future nurses and don't be negative on them because they are vulnerable individuals. Be aware of your conscience.

Thank you.

I love my nursing school. It's given me more opportunities than I could have dreamed of without this education. I am so thankful for the teachers here who have given me support and knowledge. The city I live in is no place you'd ever want to be. Thanks to my nursing education, I will be able to move out of here and to a safer and cleaner area. I am also thankful for all my general education classes, which taught me how to think in different ways and helped me to discover that I was interested in subjects that I didn't know anything about and wouldn't have pursued on my own.

I am not broadcasting, nor have I ever on AN, the university that I attend so it would be silly to say I'm writing this because of any affiliation. But affiliated with a college I am, and darn proud and thankful for it. I don't graduate until May, and already have an interview for when I graduate to work as an RN, so I have not experienced effects or seen evidence of no shortage, but I am sure that depends on where you live and how hard you work and apply yourself for your dreams.

Im in the bay area and there is a shortage of nurses. This is the reason that our hospitals are filled with traveling nurses. My school never talks about shortage of nurses though, i just here about it through my friends that are nurses and they are under staffed. Business scam I'm not for sure what you mean when you say this. If you want to be a nurse you will go to school for it and become one. Many schools are hard to get into because the bar is set high because of grades, entrance exams scores and lotteries, which allows a lot of the private schools to charge a lot because you don't have to go through all the hoops to get in.

why would you assume that if your a nursing teacher then you failed as a nurse, all my instructors are still active Rn's and NP

Sigh...the actual answer is that there is no nursing shortage as we speak right now. There are a few areas that need nurses and I have heard that the Dakota's are in sort of a boon there for housing and nurses.

This is a complex answer and I think that the horrible economic conditions have improved some in the country. Initially there was panic in the ranks about this huge shortage of nurses on the horizon. There was a huge age group of baby boomers that were going to retire and leave a huge empty slot of nurses but of experienced nurses. The shortage never happened.

Us baby boomers lost big in the market crash of 2008 stealing all of over 401K lifetime savings. When the stock market crashed many spouses lost their jobs...the nurse spouse did not retire and those who were at home returned to the workforce for money and insurance.

Now...with all of these record unemployment numbers that rivaled the Great Depression an opportunity in the "Medical Profession" that was in the midst of a "Major Shortage" (not really)...The government unemployment paid for people to be re-educated. In nursing. Now here in the US we have 3 education levels to become a nurse. Many saw the 2 year associate degree....went to school....and went to work. Mankind never at a loss to take advantage to make money had all of these "For Profit" schools pop up all over the US. Many of them only State accredited...which means the state nursing board approves of the schooling but another state may not approve of the education....they did not care.

There was an almost frantic proliferation of programs to fulfill the demand of students wanting to become nurses. Soon there was a plethora of schools and graduates. This led to the next problem. The one year and out group.

The one year and out group. These are the nurses who looked at getting hired in the ER, ICU Tele areas so they could move on for the "Real Money". Many hospitals began making nurses sign commitment contracts that they would stay for x-amount of time.

Eventually there will be a bit of a shortage but it will not be as big as they projected. Eventually Old Bats like me will have to eventually leave our positions....many of us who now support our children and they cannot find jobs (I am a late bloomer and mine are in college)...that will be when we are pronounced at the bedside. I am concerned about all of those going into Nurse Practitioner. Not everyone will land a six figure position/practice and the more that flood that position their value will decrease. But that is an argument for another day.

I hope this helped. Go to the search box and type in nursing shortage and no nursing shortage and you will have more than enough to read on the subject.

The truth? That's funny! The truth is you have no idea because you are not a nurse, maYbe once u were a nursing student but clearly you gave up on that so it's not for you. Nothing wrong with it. Don't be talking about things you know nothing about though, it's already made u look bad enough. And we aren't "affiliated with any nursing school" lol we got through school as many do not, it's designed that wAy. It's made to weed out the weak. And by the way I would say yes there is a shortage and it will only get larger as fewer people are able to get through school. Then there's the problem with nurses leaving the profession after a few years creating a shortage.
